Currently, plastics that cannot be recycled are allowed to display the recycle TM. End that and ban any type of plastic that cannot actually be recycled.
Make all plastics require a significant deposit, which can be turned into cash when turned in correctly.
Fake bio-degradable plastics just break down into tiny parts that are still plastic and end up in the food chain. Ban those.
When we say "ban", that means getting exceptions to use them should be a major hassle within each govt responsible for oversight.
Japanese seem willing to do this more than most other countries. I can imagine my neighbors screaming about this new "tax".
We've worked on clean air and clean water. Now we need to clean everything else and make everyone, especially companies, clean as they go. Delaying the costs of clean up needs to stop.
