Beautiful, fascinating and playful creatures in to the bargain.

Wonderful creatures, yes, but as marsupials, they are quite vicious. Don't anthropomorphize them - they'll chew your face off.

Otters aren't marsupials.

Sea Otters are champions of the environment. Way to go!

When I was trekking through Laos I stayed at a lodge where there was a friendly, tamed and free to go as he pleased otter. This otter loved people and I had the pleasure to meet him as he loved to come up on my lap in the evenings for pets on his belly and it was such a treat to have the pleasure of his company. Prayers for these otters they live a long life, people treat them with the respect they have earned and they are not mistreated.

I can testify that there are many otters living happily here in Cali.
The times we went to Alaska, saw hundreds of them.
