It’s a start. Still a long way to go but better than nothing.

Plastic is made from oil, not plants.

I don't understand your point here, are you saying that British people won't change to not using single-use plastics when they are banned? So you think they'll like use black-market straws, and mafia smuggled take-out containers or something?

All plastic waste can be turned into bricks for construction.

Canada just banned single-use plastics as of Jan 1. I'm interested in seeing which items have exemptions, and how they will replace other items.

When it comes to straws, I've just stopped using them altogether, and cardboard straws don't feel good to me.

Too little , too late me thinks. Humans seem to have an inability to fundamentally change, all the changes we make are just ...Plastic....excuse the pun.

Since only 10% of plastic is recycled, 90% of all plastic is single use.

That's not necessarily true. I own plastic cooking bowls I have used hundreds of times, but I will probably not recycle them.

Here is Thérèse Coffey explaining what we can do about single-use plastic items:

quote: We all know the absolutely devastating impacts that plastic can have on our environment and wildlife.

Say the government that has spent years slaughtering badger populations.

Fish and Chips can go back to being wrapped in paper, pizzas travel in cardboard. Not sure about others. Tupperware maybe - that's not single use.

When restrictions start impacting upon the general public, they will take it out on the activists, and things will get ugly - as they were starting to do with the XR protests.

Plastic is s form of recycled plant matter.
