See the ‘hunger stones’ being revealed by the present low rivers in Europe.

"Europe’s current drought is certainly historic. Scientists at the European Drought Observatory said that the drought is on track to be the worst one in 500 years, Sky News reported

Which means that it's also NOT unprecedented, and has previously occurred also well before the Industrial Revolution, or any other "Anthropogenic Global Warming" claims. Enjoy the facts.

Only since 1935? Then, when was the previous record low? Surely, it must be a bit earlier. Or, is the historical record poorly kept?

Rain is quite contradictory in the UK.

During long summer droughts like this people panic when it fails, seeing clearly what needs to be done, but as soon as it reverts to type they quickly lose focus and forget to give thanks.

So far where I live on the south east coast of England we've had 1.2mm of rain in 2 months, my grass is brown as are all the fields around, nearly as bad as 1976.

Water privatisation in the UK has been a complete disaster.

It has only been privatised in England and Wales. In Scotland, it is managed by a public company - Scottish Water. The average water bill in Scotland is slightly lower than in England and Wales - in 2021-22, £375 compared to £408.

standing in a small section of the Thames in Cricklade, about 80 km west of London.

This is wrong, the distance is more like 80 miles, 128 km.

Yes, rivers are drying up not just around Thames, but also in many other parts of the globe currently.

Drought used to be a common phenomenon in poor countries, now it seems to be fast emerging everywhere."

Yes, quite concerning.

I think the canal system could be used to move water from north to south.

Only if shareholders will make some money from it.

Water privatisation in the UK has been a complete disaster. Water rates in the UK are higher than in countries like Spain and Italy where it barely rains.

Nah. This is a perfect chance to try out the Tories' "trickle-down" theories. Remember how they said that wealth generated in the richer parts of the country (the South) would magically find its way to the North?

Well, let's see how it works with the shoe on the other foot, with real "trickles"....

My family left London to the coast to escape the extreme heat. Meanwhile Boris decided holiday in Greece is what he and his family needed. Some people without water.

I think the canal system could be used to move water from north to south.

Some rain fell today across the country, with more forecast over the next couple of days.

Will it really fall, or will the forecast evaporate again?
