Planting more trees is not a cure-all, but wiping out the trees in the rain forests of Asia and South America is disastrous for the biosphere.

The sea is a much more important factor to slow down climate change, the bad news are that it is also very fragile and can turn into a factor that accelerates it.
Trees are important for their local ecology, but for the climate in general the seas are the main star.
