Cash grab by a small minority that will be squandered, wasted and embezzled by the same few. Disgusting. .

Not my country, not my responsibility.

Yes it is, because you (or your country) is probably importing products from these countries that cause ecosystem loss and degradation. Pretty much any wood or agricultural products.

Someone needs to tot up all the emissions from getting people from around the world to all of these environmental summits. Just by using Zoom they could have avoided it.

Well, looking through the lens of your country, whatever it is (though I have suspicions), is a pretty tiny perspective considering what is at stake for humanity. But, yes, responsibility is key. Many don't want to feel it. The best antidote to feeling of sympathy and responsibility is, of course, nihilism. And that is mostly where we are tending to. But, anyway, you have managed to contextualise your outlook in terms of your feelings which is more than most.

The responsibility lies with those who produce and sell the products. Otherwise, it is no different than suggesting that a diner be responsible for the sanitary conditions of the kitchen in which his or her food is prepared.

So you would buy something produced by slave labor? If not, then you should realize that the consumer has a responsibility as well.
