Some great photos here of folks riding scooters with two kids and no helmets. Darwin prize goes to the dad with two kids and one hand on his smartphone.

Scooters used to be really popular in Japan. They would sell 1.5 million a year. It was killed by a puritan movement that swept across PTAs to not let kids have bikes with the goal of stopping bosozoku or assorted moaning neighbours problems. We still have bosozoku and now have young folks who stay in their rooms glued to screens rather than getting out and about on scooters.

A quick google says Hanoi is building a subway system, so this should be a temporary problem.

In Vietnam's heavily polluted capital Hanoi, teenage taxi driver Phung Khac Trung rides his electric motorbike through streets jammed with two-wheelers belching toxic fumes.

So they want to replace the air pollution with un-extinguishable lithium battery fires and endless lines at yet-to-be-built charging stations? Brilliant. In addition, two-wheelers in Tokyo do not "belch toxic fumes". How about mandating 4-stroke engines and making sure they are properly maintained instead?

"We all understand that EVs are good for the environment. But it needs investment."

This is absolute nonsense. Sad to see that this guy bought into that propaganda line. Or he is just eager to cash in on subsidies (which he calls "investment").

ICE engines have to go due to growing levels of unhealthy particulates - human health can't handle it.

Global warming is not the real problem, the climate has always changed, long before humans and long after!

That the person have obviously already repeatedly put his genes on the next generation means it is much more likely these are not the only recipients, and by definition would negate the award.

Are these problems as difficult to solve as the air contamination of the current options? battery exchange stations do not require lines and have been implemented without problem for example. Also, any source where the disadvantage importance is supported by evidence? How is the situation in Tokyo negating the situation in Vietnam and the solutions proposed?

This is absolute nonsense

Based on what exactly? The information available clearly indicates this is the case

That is not what "climate change" in the context of the current crisis means, this misrepresentation is only a terribly obvious excuse antiscientific groups try to use to avoid addressing the proven effect humans have on the global climate.

Yes, I'm sure humans would be living the good life in an Ice Age or Greenhouse Age.

Electric scooters sound like a great idea. Most people could probably charge them up at home while they are not being used. As long as the source of electricity is not based on burning fossil fuels.

In the last few years I have noticed a huge uptick in the number of electric scooters on the streets here in California. Most people using them are not wearing helmets, and they do not have lights for nighttime use, so things could be better.

Actually even charging them from fossil fuel electricity sources is still cleaner than using gas engines, because power plants are much more efficient than vehicle engines.
