Cinco de Mayo will hold its fifth annual festival in a new location in Odaiba. The new venue will be Yume no Hiroba, part of Symbol Promenade Park in Odaiba from May 4 (Thursday) to May 6 (Saturday). Entrance will be free.

Cinco de Mayo means 5th of May in Spanish. The day is to commemorate the Battle of Puebla, where a small team of Mexican fighters defeated a much larger French army, which at the time was considered the strongest in the world. Cinco de Mayo has grown especially popular in the United States, where all things Mexican are celebrated. Cinco de Mayo in Japan, which started in 2013 in Yoyogi Park, will hold its 5th year of celebrations in its new location in Odaiba. It will showcase not just Mexico but music, dance and cuisine from many other countries in the western hemisphere. Known as one of the most “international” festivals in Japan, it is a great chance to enjoy fine food, drinks and interactive entertainment with friends and family.

There will be plenty of delicious food from Mexico, America, Peru, Brazil, Chile, Jamaica, Colombia and even Canada. Head on over to Odaiba during Golden Week to try some of the best food the Americas has to offer. Enjoy tacos, burritos, anticuchos, quesadilla, empanada, jambalaya and much more.

Drinks play a big part at Cinco de Mayo. Along with craft beer and wine, you can enjoy a wild variety of fine cocktails. Mainstays include margarita, mojito, pisco sour, piña colada, Cuba libre, caipirinha and other tropical cocktails. Of course, we also have a variety of drinks for those who do not drink alcohol. But do try to pace yourself!

Experience salsa, samba, New Orleans jazz, soul, rock and much more. Don't worry if you're not a dancer, there will be instructors to gently introduce you to the various regional dances. There will even be activities for children and for the whole family.
