CWAJ's 63rd Annual Print Show

The CWAJ Print Show is a highly acclaimed and internationally recognized exhibition and sale of contemporary Japanese print art. The 63rd annual juried show and sale will be held at Hillside Forum, a lively gallery space in Daikanyama. This is an unmissable opportunity to see and purchase vital works of print art by artists who hail from all over Japan.

This year’s show will feature over 200 prints by renowned artists, up and comers and first time CWAJ exhibitors. CWAJ will present the winners of The Young Printmaker Award for 2019. The CWAJ 70th Anniversary Show themed, “Wonder Women!” will also be on display at Hillside Forum with all prints available for purchase.

Year after year CWAJ has hung a dynamic exhibition that encompasses a wide range of styles, themes and techniques such as woodblock, intaglio, lithography and silkscreen. The show is so well loved because many masterpieces by highly regarded, experienced printmakers are shown and sold alongside works by emerging talent. Prices, which are determined by the artists, range from 5,000 to 400,000 yen.

All proceeds from the Print Show and sale go to CWAJ Scholarship and Fukushima Relief Projects. To date, we have awarded more than 800 scholarships to women who want to further their studies both in Japan and overseas, as well as to female and male students who are visually impaired or want to study nursing in the Fukushima region. Over the years, our scholars have gone on to highly distinguished careers in Japan and abroad.

The College Women’s Association of Japan (CWAJ) is not-for-profit group that promotes Arts, Education, Community and Friendship. This unique, 100% volunteer organization has steadfastly enriched the lives of members, scholarship recipients and the many artists who have contributed to the Print Show.

Do not miss this chance to engage with print art and contemporary print artists and to show your support for a wide range of talented printmakers at the Internationally recognized CWAJ Print Show. Free guided tours are offered twice daily at 11:00 and 2:00. The tours are interesting, informative and there is no obligation to buy.

Hands-on Art, which offers raised images of several prints is offered daily. In addition to guided tours for the sighted, guided tours are also offered for individuals with visual impairment.
