Sounds like mass cultural appropriation event.

One minute they say international residents and then they say foreigner friendly.

They will try to say the Japanese katana is a sword - but its actually a saber not a sword and originally from China.

Or how karate is Japanese.

Or ramen is Japanese

Why Japanese think they have their own culture ?

No insults intended just fact.

Besides most everyone in Japan wears western or European clothing and uses western or European technology every day.
