The 3rd annual I Love Ireland Festival 2016 will take place in Tokyo's Yoyogi Park on Sunday, March 20.

“The Ireland Festival is a celebration of Ireland and all things Irish in Japan, to mark St Patrick’s Day, Ireland’s national day, named after our patron saint, who is credited with introducing Christianity to pagan Ireland in the 5th century. Although essentially an Irish holiday, St Patrick’s Day is now celebrated the world over - wherever there are Irish and wherever there are those with a love of Ireland,” said Ambassador Anne Barrington. “And Japan is no different. In fact, there will be an astonishing number of St Patrick’s Day celebrations in this country during the month of March.”

A highlight will be the Ireland Festival, which will involve two main elements: - The third annual I Love Ireland Festival (ILIF) 2016. It was a massive success in 2015, attended by more than 30,000 people.

The I Love Ireland Festival will once again take over Yoyogi Park in Tokyo from 10 a.m. on March 20. This year’s festival promises to be even better than last year. “With top Irish musicians and dancers, food and drinks, sports, culture and crafts. It guarantees something for all the family,” said Yoshihiro Tsuchiya, chairman of ILIF 2016 Executive Committee.

Don't forget the Tokyo St Patrick's Day Parade, now in its 24th year. The main boulevard in Omotesando will be closed to traffic while 1,500 participants march together to celebrate St Patrick’s Day and the deep friendship between Ireland and Japan. The festival will run at nearby Yoyogi Park both before and after the parade.

Now if only at least 1 Food Stand, @Yoyogi, would serve up some Corned Beef Brisket they'd really be celebrating it right.

Irish people do not eat corned beef.

Tokyo's Hard Rock Cafe had a St. Patrick's Day club sandwich with corned beef and turkey ham. This is as Irish as Kim Jong Un.

I went last year. It was pretty cool. Lots and Lots of Guinness and Jameson Irish Whiskey. Good vibes @Yoyogi.

It's nice when countries chose to celebrate other cultures.

Yeah it is. Now if only at least 1 Food Stand, @Yoyogi, would serve up some Corned Beef Brisket they'd really be celebrating it right.

Lots of eye candy dressed in green there too. Cheers!

Éire go Brach

It's nice when countries chose to celebrate other cultures. It's a positive attempt to bring us all together thru peaceful means. I applaud the effort.
