Direct from sold-out engagements in Johannesburg, South Africa and Sydney, Australia, China and New York, the music performance "drumstruck" returns to Japan this summer for the 10th year in a row.
The moment you step inside the theater, an African drum that is placed on every seat catches your eye. The entire audience gets the chance to make music together with the cast, which is one of the main features of “drumstruck.”
The cast is dressed in colorful traditional costumes and their trained bodies energize the performance with their powerful and elegant dancing. Their strong and beautiful voices overwhelm the audience with their speed and dynamism.
At first, the audiences may be puzzled by the unfamiliar instruments, but they soon become absorbed in playing the drums. This provides audiences with a sense of unity with the cast, and feel the accomplishment and joy of participating in the performance.
Performances from 2008 to 2016 have been sold out, drawing many repeat audiences.
Tickets are 8,300 yen for adults and 5,200 yen for anyone under 19.
