A: The next generation of workers really want to work for a company that has a purpose, a company that brings value to the world, not just a anonymous corporate entity that’s capitalistic in nature.

Well, I wouldn’t want to work for an outsourcing company. I’d want to work directly for the company that is producing the ultimate value for its own customers. (In capitalism, rewards flow to those who make other people feel good by providing value, btw)

I think that’s a huge part of digital transformation actually. Rather than outsourcing IT, in-sourcing IT and using in-house IT as a competitive advantage. I mean, if you are trying to be digital but then just outsource your IT to the same outfit as your competitors, what are you really playing at?

Outsourcing companies like this are evil.

Why would you say they are evil?

SaaS companies, where they outsource entire functions (not just IT capabilities) makes decent sense to me.

The only SaaS I know is Software as a Service - I'm not seeing how that relates to this thread, unless it has another meaning I'm unaware of. I googled, but just ended up with pages of software as a service.

But yet...

We can't have our cake and eat it.

In case I wasn’t clear, it’s a question of whether you want to go half-baked and do a function in house - except for the IT… or outsource the entire function. With a SaaS, you get an actual product / service to use, not just the IT folks.

Keeping these functions together as a cohesive product makes good sense to me, slicing out just some IT parts does not.

Maybe you feel otherwise.
