Group identity politics has been a central tenet of authoritarian political movements such as Communism and fascism since their beginnings. This way of thinking is very destructive.

What a joke this place is and people fall for it.

There locations here in Tokyo Bost recycled materials in their tables chairs, decorations, etc...

But when you look closely you realise it is all from recycled stuff from North America mainly the USA.

So instead of finding local material to use, they shipped this stuff all the way to Japan.

Doesn't sound very environmentally friendly.

Everything they do and say is lip service, nothing real or concrete, just get gullible people to go " oh how progressive, how inclusive, how environmentally friendly" it is a giant corporation trying to pretend to be the little guy.

Eat at your locally owned burger joint, there are now many young entrepreneurs all over Japan that make far better burgers most built their places themselves and don't care who or what you are, they treat everyone nicely.

Enough of the "diversity and inclusion" ramble. I wish Shake Shack would concentrate on making a better tasting burger instead.

Once again, mocking right-wingers for their bigotry is disallowed, but the bigotry itself is fine. Cool beans.

If you dont agree with it them its not very inclusive, they exclude and ridicule those who think differently and have their own view,..................unless its inline with how they think n feel about things.

Inclusive only if they agree with it.

Do you understand the difference between excluding people based on their political views, which someone can change, and excluding people based on sexuality, which they can't?

Lazarus you saying people cant change their sexuality ?

-2 ( +6 / -8 )

Not by choice. You can educate someone out of being right-wing; you can't educate them out of being gay.

A lot of these new corporate mantra's seem to be more of a CYA thing. Companies are trying to avoid future bad press & situations, essentially a lot of this stuff are preventative measures that have to deal with the sad woke world that is around us.

Sometimes I wish people would just shut up and cook. It's a meaningless, paper hat job at a fast food hamburger chain, not constructing fresh drinking water equipment in equatorial Africa.

“The war for talent is only getting more competitive. People have to want to work and stay with you. So we have to provide an environment where each party in the relationship gives their best: The individual gives their best for the company, and the company gives their best to the individual.”

“People have to want to work ...”

Critical point. Pay. If potential staff can collect $300 per week ($7.50 per hour for a 40-hour week) from extended unemployment from the government, SS will have to raise their pay. Is SS ready for that?

2 ( +2 / -0 )

It's $300 plus the state unemployment weekly rate, which would be about $250/week for that level of worker. Net $550 per week.

"People who make my food do not deserve dignity" - someone who is likely to get spit in their burger.

the nation’s board rooms are scrambling to assemble talent pipelines that look more like the nation as a whole.

The problem with this is the emphasis on 'looks'. Skin color shouldn't matter. Choosing someone to fill a role because of skin color amounts to excluding another because they are the wrong color which is racism.

How about simply choosing candidates simply on merit alone?

Will this push for diversity also include 'people that think more like the nation as a whole'? That would include liberals and conservatives, Democrats, Republicans and independents, atheists and religious, city and country, etc.

Shake Shack is not the cheapest place in town nor is the service the best.

The majority of restaurants in Japan will bring an ordered item to the customers’ tables but Shake Shack doesn’t.

Went once but not again...
