Soon we will be seeing headlines about some species of insect being endangered due to human overconsumption.

It's going to be eating insects or synthetically grown globs of beef in a laboratory petri dish that will feed the future.

I doubt most people will switch to an insect based diet any time soon. On the other hand, dogs and cats would probably have no problem munching on insects. Americans are expected to spend over $21 billion on pet food this year alone. That's quite a large untapped market for insect protein.

I see no problems with this, in many countries the have been part of the diet for a long time. Take away the look and process the protein into a neutral shape and the squeamish factor goes away.
Remember Soylent Green is processed Humans.

In China the future is NOW.

I had crickets sautéed in garlic pepper sauce, it was surprisingly good. I don't think all insects are healthy for you, but most are. 90% pure protein. But Grasshoppers, I heard they are like the pigs of insects and they often carry Tapeworm eggs, so you have to be careful eating them. Maybe if they are farm raised, perhaps.
