Burger King to offer all-you-can-eat Whopper campaign for two weeks

Burger King Japan is once again holding its "B"iking campaign from Nov 1-15. It's an all-you-can-eat Whopper campaign. If you order a Whopper set meal, you can order as many extra Whoppers as you can eat within a 30-minute period

The Whopper is Burger King's symbol all over the world.

Burger King ran this campaign last year as well, and said it was a success, even though it might be likened to a speed-eating contest in the hands of some gluttonous customers.

Burger King's "have it your way" strategy has been very successful in Japan, the company said. "Now we want to make our customers even more satisfied. So if they are not full after one Whopper, they can keep coming back," said a company spokesperson.

They continue with stuff like this they'll be the size of "us" soon enough!!

I agree Marie. Why would they want to try to make the Japanese people huge and obese like so many others in the world.

And 30 minutes is not long. Takes me longer than that to eat a Whopper Junior with Cheese. I do not understand how some of my girl friends who are thinner than I can eat so much.

It's al fun until someone chokes to death trying to devour a few Whoppers in 30 minutes....

I think my son could put away 2 or 3 Whoppers, but I have trouble choking down the first one...

oh man, I wish I lived closer to a BK so that I could take advantage of this deal! Burger King is one of the few things I really miss about living in America, always loved their burgers a lot more than other places, and this would be a fun way to get my fill of the burgers with my other ALT friends.

I also think it's rather brilliant, because as the people above me have commented, a lot of people can only eat one or two, especially within 30mins, so the idea of "all you can eat" will drive people in, but then they will not loose a lot of money due to the average person just not being able to consume that much so quickly.

There should be laws forbidding such unhealthy practices.

i am all over this!! i just hope japan BK isnt like mos burger with the salt, im going to be in Tokyo round the 5th so i will starve myself the week before. healthy!

My question is when does the clock start ticking? If the price of buying a double with everything on it is cheaper than the campaign I won't bother with it.

A fully stacked Double Whopper with everything you love is a much better experience than multiple whoppers. However if it's cheaper then I might become a scam artist and go up and down the stairs a couple times and build my own monster creation.

It all depends on the price.

Speaking of the burger, I'm a kind of a burger aficionado (Check out the Gravatar). Burger King ranks 2nd to McDonalds in sales but drops to a WHOPPING low at 32nd nationwide when it comes to quality. Get it? A WHOPPING low, hahahaa. Now that's a Whopper!!!

There are so many other places out there where you can get an awesome burger for a little more on the bill and a little patience as they prepare it for you.

Kua'Aina is always a solid bet. Most of you are ready to agree and go "YES", surprisingly it's NOT the best in Japan. -Crowd Gasps-

Not even T.G.I.F's (That Mozzarella Cheese thing was disgusting)

The best burger and a pure mouthwatering experience is "The Best Cheesecake" restaurant. Somebody here in Japan dug up a time capsule and it turned out to be a cache of the most delicious burger recipes ever. The patty is EVERYTHING when it comes to a burger.

Problem is, they're overpriced and that makes Burger King look real appealing even though they're priced pretty high.

As we all know, timing is everything in business. It doesn't surprise me that we are reading this now. Guess who's coming back? Wendy's!!!

That's right folks. We can expect Wendy's to come back with a vengeance. They're in the hurt locker for locations though. Although Wendy's isn't the best burger you can get there's one exception. Wendy's pawns Burger King when it comes to the side menu. Burger King has never developed a solid side menu. Wendy's comes with chili, good fries, shakes, and a solid chicken burger to boot. Wendy's also campaigns well too. Before the hiatus they came at you with an awesome mushroom cream sauce chicken burger that was literally a ball of heat in it's wrapper.

Now I'm not against Burger King. I still got a place in (Is that my heart or my gut) for you. I'm just throwing it out there that we see through the fog of the burger war. Maybe if you make this all you can eat Whopper thing 1 Hour, then you'd have us cueing up, sitting in your place of business and taking our time. Your staff wouldn't be sitting in the kitchen doing nothing.

OH that bring up one last thing. Burger King girls.......pretty hot in those pants. No other burger shop in Japan has girls as hot as the ones working for Burger King. I'm sure they've eaten more than their share of BK Stackers.

Places NOT to go for a hamburger:

Hooters

McDonalds

MosBurger

Lotteria - God Awful. Somebody owes me an apology.

netninja, your thoughts on Freshness Burger?

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Freshness Burger? Well, I didn't / don't think of them at all. That answer your question?

At least I didn't put them down.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

How about Zat's Burger? :P

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Never tried it. Your opinion? I took the liberty of looking them up though. Down in Sasebo? I have to say after looking at their website it doesn't look as appetizing as my gravatar. That burger on their homepage looks....since I have haven't tasted it yet...let's just say it looks localized.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

I visit Zat's often and like their burgers, local places are often quiet packed and waiting is not unusual.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

why don't they go do that in africa where there's famine? no profit? honestly, how stupidly out of touch with reality can these companies get? at least i won't eat their junk food. but maybe i do more evil, 'cause i'll eat instead some nice fresh tasty tune.

apologies: tuna

Challenge accepted!! I'll see how many whoppers I can swallow and purge for the price of one!

There are some pretty decent 'real' burgers to be found, unfortunately the thing is that they are definitely not as cheap as BK or McD though. In a pinch... the double quarter pounder with cheese is not too shabby though.

Burger Mania, Firehouse, REG-ON Diner and Brozers all serve a pretty darn tasty grilled beef patty on a nicely toasted bun with the fixings of your choice. Avocado, chili cheese, mozza + mushroom, bacon double cheese... ahh I'm making myself hungry now. I think I even had a nice smoked meat sandwich with gherkins at one of the Burger Manias. Ok, time to stop thinking about burgers... until the weekend, maybe.

I went to BK in Akihabara a few weeks ago and tried the new Steakhouse XT which I almost couldn't finish as it tasted of mystery meat. And last week I popped into the Ikebukuro BK and had a few of their menu entries which I again almost could not eat and actually did throw half of away. I don't know what has happened to BK here but it has gone to the dogs. BTW, if you check the BK website and click on the Asia locations icon Japan doesn't even appear. What's with that ?

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

Netninja,

Have you tried Firehouse burgers? Noticed someone at my guest house had tacked a menu to our fridge and the burger looked fantastic. But I'm poor and lazy and don't want to commit before someone else guinea pigs for me.

Hub's premium hamburger is pretty good, I think.

It always tastes excellent after 8 pints of Hub Ale.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Burger King can offer this as very few people could stand the tatse of this muck to bother trying to eat as many as possible in 30 minutes, eating 1 in 30 years would be bad enough.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

The only japanese that could not be welcome to burger king is this guy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Takeru_Kobayashi he alone could send a Burger King store without hamburgers in 30 minutes... XD

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

To me, this article and your responses are a vivid symbol. It is hard to believe that none of you even mentions the way American Business has infiltrated, influenced and corrupted life in Japan (and everywhere else!). From GE selling nuclear power after the war (totally ironic, no?) to hamburgers that will make everyone fat and unhealthy, it's sooooo insidious!

Hamburgers and "fast food" are perfect symbols of America's world influence. Although it's probably not a conspiracy, it might as well be. The U.S. is out to poison the world in any and every way it can. It's called control, folks, and our government/business (one and the same) will control you and yours in any way they can! BOYCOTT AMERICAN BUSINESS!!!

all you can eat death-on-a-bun. sounds wonderful

0 ( +2 / -2 )

There is a built in cushion that prevents you from eating 30 whoppers in 30 minutes. You have to order them. That means getting in line and waiting while each one is made. The 2nd whopper, no problem, but I'd expect Whopper number four to take several minutes - "it's cooking now.."

0 ( +0 / -0 )

like Japanese aren't getting fat enough lately. I see more and more fat asses each and everyday :( I wholeheartedly agree with Foxie.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Eating whoppers is a choice. No one's forcing you, and if you manage your diet appropriately you can get away with eating 10 whoppers in a sitting with no negative health effects.

What people should be boycotting is the exploitative business practices of large fast food chains. And since eating habits are pretty much developed in childhood, it's parenting practices that are to blame for obesity. What the Japanese need to do is stop giving in to the every whim of their children and impose some rules on them once in a while.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Why is this in the "Food" section?

2 ( +2 / -0 )

It is individual choice after all. But I think this is good marketing on behalf of BK since they have returned to Japanese market and they need to create awareness and pull for customers.

Burger King Japan's whoppers are horrible. I couldn't believe how different the meat tasted to what I was used to in New Zealand or even Hungry Jacks in Aus. To be fair Maccas was the same, the meat was horrible. Can someone confirm whether the patties are all beef? Cause I know some chains use a beef / pork mix which would explain the strange taste. The best burger I had was at Wendy's in Tokyo, the patties were imported from Aus and they tasted the same as back home.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Disgusting..........all you can eat..........of this junk....Chow down all you want but it is not really a good idea. Just my opinion based on a lot of research into meat and fast food industries.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

I hope a bunch of Sumo wrestlers takes them up on that. For the rest of us, it just makes no sense. Which sane person would want stuff himself with more than one of those things`.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Millions of people die of starvation every year-the biggest killer there is, and here we are thinking how to stuff ourselves needlessly?

What a strange world this is..............

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Burger King should be boycotted! All you can stuff your face with this crap?? All you can stuff fat, sugar, salts, etc..in to your hear?? Until you die there on the yamanote train in the middle of thousands of people?? NO THANK YOU!!

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

ok so how about if you go in a group and only one person orders? Maybe the other people can sneak in and say that they just need to use the restroom.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

If Takeru Kobayashi takes up BK on this, BK will definitely lose money on him, ha ha

0 ( +0 / -0 )

this will only work in japan. if was anywhere else they most probably have a qu round the block before opening and run out of stock by lunch. XD

0 ( +1 / -1 )

that's especially true of America, SusieUK... LOL

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Burger Kings contribution to Japan`s Healthy Eating Campaign ? Damn!, where are my blood pressure and cholesterol pills I was prescribed after my stroke?
