A fast-casual burrito restaurant, “umum good burritos!” opened Friday on the basement first floor of the Marunouchi Building in Tokyo.
Burittos served in the restaurant are smaller and cheaper (750 yen) than ordinary burritos. A Japanese burrito, Teriyaki-Chicken burrito, is also available as well as a sweet burrito which has tiramisu in it (photo below). There are Soybean Smoothies, too, which are in fashion these days.
The restaurant is primarily aimed at female office workers and aims to encourage and support them through offering a healthy, balanced diet. Burritos include numerous ingredients with essential nutrition.
In addition, the shop is designed so that a customer can feel free to enter and dine there alone.

There is a burrito place in Roppongi that is essentially a clone of Chipotle. It's great. Unfortunately, while I could point out exactly where on a map it is, I can't seem to recall the name right now. Maybe someone else will know where I'm talking about.

750 is too much for a burrito. I pay 600 yen for a great "American" size Mission-style burrito. They're really filling and we don't need a gimmick to get people in Osaka. Here, word of mouth is good enough for us! The place is El Zocalo in the Horie area of Shinsaibashi in Osaka. They're definitely worth the money!

It would be fantastic if Chipotle got it together and invaded Japan.
Of course, in Japan, somehow a Chipotle burrito would probably cost 50% more, but I would still go once a month if there was one down the street!

Get's people in the door. You and I don't have to like it, but take a look around and you'll see that it works for businesses here.
I agree, but we men are not the target audience, so it seems like a reasonable strategy. Plus, the business people working in and around the Marunouchi Building are making bank, so I can't imagine that pricing will be much of a problem.

But if you are a small woman, you'd probably rather pay 750 yen for the amount you eat, than 1000 yen for more than you need.

Of course they are small. I wouldn't say they are value for money. I'd rather pay 1000yen for a real burrito.
Sounds revolting. Why do they always have to make gimicky crap?

Home made burritos are a cinch to make using Costco's frozen tortillas, refried beans, cheese, salsa, chicken and other spices. Great for parties and you don't need to be Mexican. Use a large Teflon pan and roll.
