Tokyo-based company Naro takes audiences on memorable video journeys through Japanese culture alongside extraordinary individuals—masters who are legends in their profession.

In its debut on-demand course, viewers join Shuji Niitome, 2-Star Michelin-awarded chef and restaurateur helming Japan’s famed Tempura Niitome, as he dishes out secrets of tempura mastery in a delectable multi-video course. Viewers can experience the charms and mystery of tempura, while learning how to make Niitome’s unique batter, manage their oil, select quality seasonal ingredients, and fry each morsel to perfection.

Additionally, viewers will get hands-on tips for mastering an omakase-style meal of seasonal ingredients, including: shiitake mushrooms, asparagus, ayu fish, scallops, and more. Viewers will encounter insider tricks for making tempura a true treat for each of the five senses.

“I've devoted my life to tempura, and I'm excited to share my secrets with you. I hope you enjoy my course," says Shuji Niitome.

Since Japanese food was registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2012, interest in Japanese food and cuisine has exploded worldwide. Prior to the closing of Japan’s borders in 2020 due to COVID-19, millions of tourists from all over the world visited Japan to enjoy Japanese food.

There are 16 on-demand video sessions.
