We frequently eat it. Dissolvable fiber. Very interesting flower.

Konyaku has very low calories, but does it have any nutritional value?

Har. Pass. Somehow I don't see anyone outside of Japan showing any interest in this jello like glob of gelatin.

Eating soluble fiber is good for you.
Comes in the thread form too. An essential ingredient for sukiyaki and other Japanese dishes.

Eaten by hundreds of millions of Asians.

"Eaten by hundreds of millions of Asians."
Well good for them. They can have my share.
"An essential ingredient for sukiyaki and other Japanese dishes."
Not so essential as I leave it out and does not change anything one bit except for a slimy jello missing that I don't like.

Soluble fiber can help improve digestion and lower blood sugar, while insoluble fiber can soften stool, making it easier to pass.

The handmade stuff is well tasty, you can eat it as sashimi. It's good for you too.

The whole point is that it can't be digested, so it comes out as it goes in without any significant part of it being absorbed. Swallowing big pieces without chewing would let you see the remains after they come out.

Konnyaku and shirataki do not come out as they went in. I have eaten it every week for more than 30 years.

Too bad it tastes like nothing.

I love konnyaku noodles in nabe or whatnot. And the sweet treets are yummy.
They sell shirataki noodles in the supermarkets here in Canada. I was surprised.

Unless you usually eat without chewing how would you know? the material is not exactly hard to break in parts so it is understandably very easy for it to mix with the rest of the food so it becomes difficult to recognize even when it is not digested, it is easy to find many people saying this is exactly what happened.

It is explicitly mentioned as part of the benefits

I will base my opinion on more than 30 years of personal experience.
Do you eat it?
virusrex
Saying that other people are all wrong because your personal experience is not a rational position to take, why so many other people (and those that talk about it) lie, just to prove you wrong? that makes no sense. Do you have anyone with actual authority saying this is impossible to happen? because if not you have no argument against it.
How do this works for you? If I say that yes and that I have personally confirmed that it can come out still in a recognizable form would your 30 years of experience be proved wrong? if not, then what is the point of asking the question in the first place? plenty of people already say this is the case, it makes no difference one more just repeating the same thing.
CPTOMO
What a weird position to take.
Backing up a bit:
Wrong. It can be digested. So, your premise is completely false, and then you provided sources that do not support your fake claim.
So, it is perfectly rational to accept a person's personal experience, since all the supposed references you provide are based on personal experiences. It is irrational to reject personal experience but then to base a claim on personal expeience.

I never said other people were wrong. I said I would base my opinion on 30 years of personal experience. That is quite a study by anyone's standard. I am required to inspect my stools and take samples to the hospital. There are equally just as many people who would dismiss your claims.
There are no peer review articles I know of.
It works by you saying you are speaking from personal experience and not some newspaper articles. If you don't eat it or at least tried it, why are you even making a comment?
I can't tell you about a car if I haven't driven it.

several other posters disagree with your conclusions.
virusrex
What is weird about it? people say this happens, personal experience is not an argument to argue they are lying.
Provide a source where is says the fiber can be significantly digested, without it you are just making a baseless claim that is contradicted by people that know much more about the topic.
Since it is not enough to say other people personal experience is false this keeps being an irrational position to take. You have not even tried to argue how this would be valid, just claim it is so.
Again, many people personal experience say it can go undigested until expelled, how a single person experience demonstrate all those other people are lying?
virusrex
Yes you did, your comment comes as an argument to defend the claim you made that "Konnyaku and shirataki do not come out as they went in." they do. If you only said that have not happened to you there would not be any problem, you are saying this does not happen, at all. Even when people clearly says this do, meaning you are arguing they are wrong.
No, that is not a study, that is hearsay. Anybody saying the opposite happening for 31 years would have "quite a study" of higher weight, which of course makes no sense.
Claims that are not made by me but by several people including dieticians and experts in nutrition that clearly say Konnyaku is not signifanctly digested. What you say is your personal experience is not an argument that can prove they are wrong.
There are many that clearly talk about the properties of the fiber including how it is not digested
https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0141813018346397?via%3Dihub
Even the wikipedia article on the ingredient have references that prove it is not significantly digested
https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%82%B3%E3%83%B3%E3%83%8B%E3%83%A3%E3%82%AF
that is not a rational argument, you are trying to say that hearsay is better evidence to disprove your claim than scientific knowledge (and even worse, hearsay from other people) That makes no sense, if you are just going to believe what other people say and accept your claim is wrong then it makes as much sense to believe the people whose comments have been already referenced.
You can't say that a car works using gasoline even if that is common knowledge? nothing I wrote about depends on personal experience, only your argument does, which makes it easily disproved by other people personal experience (or better references, as already provided).

Readers, there is no need for bickering on this thread. It is just about a food item.
