You think anything on this list is chicken!? Too funny.

Kentucky Fried Rat pieces are not big enough to be chicken. :p

Agree the list is short of many names and locations like Circle-K who early pioneers and are still rated highly.

My local super prepares daily some great fried chicken(we love their Sesame or Garlic fried chicken).

also would like to know where the research was done and the group of people interviewed. McD seems to rate highly because they are cheap, most combini/super sell way cheaper than KFC.

Ah, excuse me, guys. You should look at that convenience store chicken very closely. There are some fillers that you might not want in your body.

I agree that the chicken alternative is becoming more popular these days. Especially since we can't trust the beef. No more Gyukaku Beef for me.

But is the chicken safe? Lets talk about radiation in those chickens and bird flu.....I'm sorry, enjoy your sandwich. My bad.

NetNinja.

NOTHING is safe in tis world. How about some recalled e-coli ground-meat(worldwide), want some german bean-sprouts.

Sorry, but to me your posts are getting rather boring and best be skipped.

My personal favorite from the above list is Famichiki.

I used to buy a famichiki on almost a daily basis, couldn't get enough.

Home made is best!

Famichiki is great!

@Zenny11

My post s are getting a bit boring. We're taling about Fried Chicken here. What are you looking for? Entertainment? This is a topic about about Chicken. Do you want an exciting post here? Or is that simply a personal attack? You'd be off topic. Be careful, Moderators!!!

You should try the Double Down by KFC. It's healthy for you, why don't you have one everyday. It'll be ENTERTAINING to see people hit MAXIMUM density in less than a year.

I've never come at you directly Zenny so be courteous. You don't have to read my posts. I read yours though. I'm interested in WHAT everybody has to say about any topic..

P.S: Japan Today. I like the new format for your website. Very handsome indeed.

I love Chicken, but I usually make it myself, minus the skin! Use black pepper, garlic, yogurt, corn flakes (crushed) and bake it, less grease, tastes great, healthier, but if I have to do the fried stuff, I'll have to go with KFC or MiniStop, they have the nice Chicken bite-sized nuggets in a cup.

KFC cleans out my system. Cannot handle the grease.

I got some fried chicken from Sunkus and it was just saturated with oil!

I bit into it, held it upside-down, and about 3 tablespoons of oil and grease ran out onto the plate I was using.

This is really no overstatement! Buy some to check this out. It's pretty shocking.

One thing that amazed me about the fried chicken I got at a convenience store (forget which one) was that it had chicken in it - not fried fat (McDs) or chicken parts - but chicken. And it was thoroughly cooked but not dry. Truly amazing. Plus McDs has about 600mg of salt in their chicken, if you're interested.

Agree, most fried chicken at the combini or the super now beat the franchises both in quality and prices.

I am surpised that HottoMotto's karage chicken is not on that list. I find it by far the best. Never even knew about McD.'s chicken since i am no longer going there after that controversial CM. Still, missing in Japan is Pollo Campero. Nobody can beat that chicken.

MrDog: hahah I know exactly what you are talking about... it is seriously the worst fried chicken out there, it is at least 40% oil!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Elbudamexicano- You got right it bro. Peruvian chicken is the best. I wonder why there is no store in Tokyo. Pollo a la brasa is the best Fried Chicken you will ever eat folks. If you from NYC, you will know what I am talking about.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Famichikin rules. That is all.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

HottoMotto's karage. Def the best in my view... And it only has a very small oil content.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Need a list of the best Tori Karaage in Tokyo !

MickeyD's and combinis as having the best fried chicken ? Say what ? Only if you don't live within a kilometer of a KFC. There are many varieties of fried chick at KFC, all excellent, nothin' can touch it, truly the king of bird.

CapnSinbad.

Riddle me this.

If KFC is that great why don't they have "Mash n' Gravy" on their menu in japan? Still KFC is overpriced.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Zenny11,

Completely agree, the main thing missing at KFC Japan is the mashed potato and gravy. But the selection in Japan is also wowfully small compared to overseas.

Kyo-chon fried chicken of Korea is by far the best

Wish we could get Nando's chicken here. If you like it hot go for the black sticker.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Damn Zenny11 you had to remind me of Nandos didnt you. Its much better than KFC, but can get too hot that sfor sure.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

LOL.

Yeah, Nando's can get hot. Like needing to do a handstand in the shower hot. :P

We don't call it an after-burner for nothing.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

the greasier, crispier and spicier the chicken the better!! :D

Famichiki - no contest. The juice dribbles down your chin. Mmm, love it.

"You think anything on this list is chicken!? Too funny."

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! I tried McD's i'Con Italian Herb Chicken sandwich - junk!

You ain't had chicken til you've had Jamaican Jerk chicken.

L Chiki Hot is my combini fried chicken of choice. I eat it whenever I need a quick hunger fix. McDonald's fried "chicken"? U gotta be kidding me. Maybe Juicy Chicken Select can pass for chicken but Shaka Shaka Chicken tastes like breading.

This is so true. Nothing can beat the bold taste of real Jamaican Jerk Chicken!!! Once you've had that, there is no turning back. And yes, I tried that joke of a so called chicken-i'Con Italian Herb, Horrible like everything else in Japanese Miki Dees! Darn sauce almost made me sick. What I don't get is that in Japan, everyone claims to be so health conscious, but often when they put a sauce on the chicken, can almost never find the bird, just a mountain of slather. At least in the states, the chicken club at Miki Dees is skinless and lean. Just don't overdo it.

Shaka Shaka Chicken tastes like breading.

That's because they forgot to put the main ingredient in: Chicken.

I have had that MrDog. I used the oil to get a sun tan with.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Fukushima Fried Chicken is the best - why didnt it make this list?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

KFC gets its chickens from Brazil (and have large signs in their stores proclaiming the fact), so no worries about radiation, at least, and their chicken pieces are at least recognizably chicken parts.

To the Japanese, fried chicken is quite distinct from 'karaage', which is probably why it doesn't appear on this list, although most of the convenience stores carry both.

Speaking of fried chicken, I miss Swanson's TV dinners. Something about the combination of the fried chicken, mashed potatoes, peas and carrots and dessert cobbler that smacks of Americana. The ultimate 1950s retro space food.

@Noripin

Now you're talking!!!!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

What about Karage! Especially at matsuri´s! They are the best. Next comes kfc twisters. Chicken is not greesy and wrapped in torttilas. I order 2 or 3 without the set. Great hangover food. Speaking of..
