Grand Hyatt Tokyo unveils holiday, New Year menus

Grand Hyatt Tokyo has announced its holiday and New Year menus that highlight the flavors of the season. The 10 restaurants and bars will be offering a range of holiday-inspired menus perfect for gatherings meant to share joy and happiness during this special time of year, including:

• Elegant Christmas Cakes–Ten different unique Christmas cakes including “Louvre”, featuring the hotel’s original “Grande H” chocolate with over 70% cocoa, and “Morocco Lantern” for its exquisite design and taste, all crafted by the hotel's award-winning pastry chefs.

• Winter Hot Chocolate and Chocolate Buffet–Dark hot chocolate and The Oak Door’s original donuts are perfect for an afternoon pick-me-up and a gorgeous afternoon tea buffet filled with all-you-can-taste premium sweets made with original “Grande H” chocolate. Pastry Chef Hiroshi Kaneko traveled to France and worked with the legendary chocolate brand Cacao Barry® to seek out an iconic blend of cacao that one could only taste at the hotel. Named after the hotel as well as the first initial of Chef Kaneko’s first name, “Grande H” features 70.3% cacao, with a subtly blended taste that is both pleasantly bitter and sour, as well as having a hint of spicy and woody aromas.

• New Year’s Eve Countdown Party–Free-flowing Champagne and a buffet of premium caviar to celebrate the arrival of 2020.

• New Year’s Sweets–Adorable New Year’s cookies and traditional French pastries.

• Winter Hot Pots–Warm up with lucky golden Chinese hot pots and traditional Japanese nabe.

• Winter Cocktails–Featuring bright red cocktails perfect for the holiday season.

Christmas Cakes, Classic Holiday Breads and Hampers

This holiday season at Fiorentina Pastry Boutique, guests can choose from 10 elegant and colorful Christmas cakes inspired by this year’s holiday charity theme, “Heart of Gold.” Premiering this Christmas season are four selections of Christmas cakes, featuring the hotel’s original “Grande H” chocolate, which consists of 70.3% cacao, with a unique bitter yet slightly sour taste, as well as a hint of spicy and woody aromas. Produced by legendary French chocolate brand Cacao Barry™ since 1842, “Grande H” is named after the hotel, as well as the initial of the first name of Chef Hiroshi Kaneko, who traveled to France to handpick the iconic blend which one can only taste at the hotel. “Grande H” offerings include the elegant Christmas cake “Louvre”, and the traditional Christmas bread Grand Premium Chocolate Stollen, which features generous portions of rum-soaked dried fruits and coated with original “Grande H” chocolate.

Colorful Christmas cakes include the exquisite “Morocco Lantern”, composed of seven different flavors of mousse, such as pistachio, rose framboise, strawberry tiramisu, caramel, mango and chocolate. The “Champ de Fleurs Tart” is covered with an abundance of fresh fruit, including strawberries, kiwi, mango, blueberries and raspberries, and topped with a glittering candy dome. For those who cannot choose just one, we have prepared an assortment box of three different mini cakes. This year’s “Heart of Gold” Christmas charity hampers include traditional Christmas breads and a variety of sweets packaged in individual boxes, and will be sold at Fiorentina Pastry Boutique.

From the last week of November, stop by The Oak Door to sip on dark hot chocolate, featuring sweet marshmallow balls with cacao served with The Oak Door’s original mini donuts for ultimate winter warmth. During December, chocolate lovers can indulge at The French Kitchen’s chocolate-filled afternoon tea and enjoy an endless selection of sweets from the lavish dessert buffet. The buffet will include a rich chocolate fountain, nine different sweet items made with the hotel’s original “Grande H” chocolate, which features full cacao flavor and aroma, with a nice fruity bitterness, along with delectable savories incorporating cacao, and the master chefs' signature crepes. Get your fill of chocolate this holiday season at the all-you-can enjoy afternoon tea buffet.

New Year’s Eve Countdown Party

Toast the new year at The Oak Door Bar’s glamorous countdown party. Patrons can choose from three different party packages on offer for the last day of 2019, with a DJ spinning popular music and a singer that will lead the countdown. The packages all include free-flowing premium champagne, as well as a buffet of caviar and canapes while the booth plan will also include free-flowing Dom Perignon and a fresh seafood platter.

New Year’s Cookies and Sweets

Fiorentina Pastry Boutique will be crafting New Year-inspired cookies, including adorable cartoon rat-shaped sugar cookies to celebrate the upcoming Year of the Rat. To welcome the new year with friends and family, enjoy a galette des rois, a traditional French pastry baked with almond cream and you might be lucky enough to find the fève , a hidden lucky charm that brings the recipient a year of good fortune and blessings.

Winter Hot Pots

At the Chinese restaurant Chinaroom, guests can experience a culinary journey through Canton, Peking, Shanghai and Szechuan. This winter, Chinaroom will be offering an original Fortune Hot Pot under this year’s theme of “Heart of Gold”, featuring two soup bases; a spicy red Sichuan soup with excellent detoxifying qualities and a golden collagen-rich soup base with an abundant portion of sea urchin. Diners can complete the soup by adding sun-dried scallops and shrimps from red packets for extra luck in the coming year.

Shunbou, the Japanese restaurant focused on seasonal cuisine, will serve a variety of warm winter hot pots including Kyoto Jidori chicken collagen broth, made by cooking the chicken bones with fragrant vegetables before slowly simmering for over eight hours. In addition, other soup options will be available, such as fugu (blowfish) and cold yellowtail. Warm up this winter with these Japanese hot pot delicacies, perfect to share with a group of friends or family.

Winter Cocktails

Beginning in December, the hotel's chic jazz lounge Maduro will showcase a line-up of three different cocktails made with a rare variety of strawberry named “Sky Berry”, grown in Tochigi Prefecture. Enjoy Maduro’s signature mojito made with this juicy berry or mixed with champagne along with nightly live music. There is no better way to get into the holiday spirit than with a cocktail, and the mixologists at The Oak Door Bar will be concocting a festive red cocktail Luna Rossa made with champagne, blackberry and raspberry liqueur.
