If you’ve lived in or ever visited Japan, you will have noticed that snack companies aren’t shy about experimenting with unexpected or eccentric flavor combinations. While some of these releases are best left forgotten, some go on to become new trends or guilty pleasures for snack fans.

The makers of Crunky, a popular Japanese chocolate bar, think they’ve hit on a new guilty pleasure in the form of their butter chocolate. It’s even the first in a new lineup of confectionery called the "Guilty Pleasure" series.

This chocolate is inspired by the taste of butter, with its melty texture and faint hint of salt. It also contains four percent real fermented butter.

Crunky’s signature crunchy texture is assured with rice puffs throughout the smooth chocolate.

The makers of this interesting combination chocolate say that they have created an addictive taste. They even recommend eating it on bread like you would with ordinary butter, or using it as a topping for rich food such as ramen or fried chicken.

Even if you're not quite adventurous enough to add butter chocolate to your ramen, if you simply want to give this innovative snack a try it’s on sale now in stores across Japan.
