For several years, Kentucky Fried Chicken has rolled out seasonal all-you-can-eat fried chicken options at select restaurants in Japan, but menu items have been limited to fried chicken itself, and only for a limited time. Fans of the Colonel's secret recipe in Japan will no longer have to eye their calendar waiting for the next campaign to be announced, however, as a new buffet style KFC has opened in the Machida neighborhood of Tokyo, with both all-you-can-eat full menu and all-you-can-drink options.
KFC Japan opened the special all-you-can-eat themed restaurant at Minami Machida Grandberry Park on Wednesday. The restaurant's menu offers 50 different items, including original recipe fried chicken, biscuits, pasta, fries, curry, soup, salad, and dessert, as well as all-you-can-drink packages for soft drinks and alcohol.
Restaurant-exclusive original menu items such as "Special Fried Chicken Soup Curry", rotisserie chicken, and a pan-baked potato casserole are also offered.
Lunch (served between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.) will be priced at 1,980 yen for adults (junior high school students and above) and 980 yen for elementary school students. Dinner (5 p.m.-10 p.m.) is 2,580 yen for adults, and 1,280 yen for elementary school students. Both lunch and dinner are available to customers younger than elementary school students for 480 yen, and free for children 3 and under.
Lunch and dinner all-you-can-eat is available for 80 minutes with a free all-you-can-drink soft drink menu included, but those in the mood to booze it up with their chicken and order all-you-can-drink alcohol for an extra 1,250 yen.
The restaurant's theme is a "KFC home party", and will have a more family restaurant-style decor as opposed to standard KFC stores. It will also feature kid's school corner where elementary school students and learn about cooking and kitchen safety.

Tokyo is more than the Yamanote... There are parts of Machida which are within Tokyo, and parts which are within Yokohama. I am with those of you who don't/wouldn't eat at a KFC - too many carbs and fat. By the time I would peal off the breading, skin and fat, there would be little left. The photo did not show the salad items. I do wonder at the variety - three or four, or more than 10?

Fried chicken. That's the best. KFC Japan does the chicken way better than in North America too. It's nice and crispy, cooked the perfect length of time, as opposed to the slop you get elsewhere. $20 for lunch though... Hm... Not only that, but it's timed, so you're going to feel rushed trying to get your money's worth. It's a nice idea to sit and have as much as you want, but for $20 trying to get your money's worth, rushing, you're just going to be a fat cow. After you're going to realize it would've made a lot more sense just to buy from the regular menu. You'd have your fill, pay less money, and have it specially made for yourself, not just eating out of the trough for the masses. Better yet stop by the grocery store, get some chicken and kara-age powder, and have some freshly fried chicken at home - hot, fresh, delicious, and a quarter of the price.

From my recall of menus at KFC, this seems very pricy for 80 minutes. Why not just buy a bucket, sit in your car and munch it down followed by Create Drug store cheap beer?

you got to be kidding. The mash potatoes, gravy, biscuits, cole slaw, tea, etc in the US is WAY better than anything in Japan (most of it, they dont even offer here), and I didnt even mention the chicken. This place....geez dude, where are you from in the US? The stuff they sell here, they would be out of business in the US.

It’s pretty accurate though. One of our more notorious traits is binge drinking. I did my fair share in the past. Apparently the scenes centuries ago in the UK with gin which could strip paint make my generation look like those who enjoy the occasional glass of dry sherry.

cleo - KFC tastes good. It's one of the U.S.' greatest exports, right up there with hip hop music and that Frozen theme song.
In China, I read it's even considered a luxury item. And it brings families together to enjoy all of that greasy goodness.
BTW, saw a couple of sumo wrestlers at an all you can eat place in Yokohama. The owners must have been thinking, "we can kiss our profits good-bye tonight"

Can't see anything in the picture I'd want to eat; I'd have to make do with the salad, corn and bread. Hardly worth ¥1980, especially if I had to eat it surrounded by the smell of fatty fried chicken.

Honestly for 2500yen that's kind of pricey, you can get a bucket and sides at a normal KFC and it will satisfy a family much less one person. Seems like a poor value proposition.
