If I could choose Step 1, could we just end those speed eating and "eat enough for 12 people" segments on Japanese tv variety programs? Overeating should not be held up as an achievement or entertainment.
We can then go onto the much more difficult problem of getting people, myself included, in a consumption-driven economy and culture to willingly consume less.

For once/twice a week meal, i would choose 6oz (or double) 30 day dry beef burger Over any ramen with very thin layers of pork.
I learnt this last time when i went for a burger during the lunch and for ramen in the dinner on same day.
Both about same price, ¥ 1700 each. Burger satisfied me. Ramen did not.
Now It's time for Best Burger hunt.

Sounds good, (similar to what I already eat, but with muesli instead of porridge for breakfast and home-baked wholemeal bread with seeds for lunch) - but I wouldn't be able to choke down a whole hamburger every few weeks (once a month?) unless it was a proper veggie burger. And there are other, better, tastier, things that make a much better occasional treat.
If my consumption of red meat, poultry, lard and fish is zero, can I have more eggs and cheese, please?

Our life styles have changed- .
We are, for the most part in the developed world , not involved with rural occupations.
So we need to adapt our food sources.
Personally ,we follow more or less this sort of diet - though tend to consume a lot of wild salmon ( which is ample where we live)

I am not against the example diet shown but guess the researchers must be assuming that we will not have lab-grown meat by 2050. It is already available and the price has been coming down drastically, suggesting it will hit parity or lower in the near future.
It sounds like it will be vastly more sustainable to produce than current livestock farming.

So called health and environment experts should be talking about overpopulation, family planning and how large families and their massive carbon footprint are a nightmare for the environment.

Wait! All 7.7 billion of us, including you and me, want to live a long and satisfying life. The article says the Earth can sustain 10 billion by adopting this daily meal plan. I'll give up meat, but I want the two scoops of ice cream!

I eat very well and train daily, this diet is good on paper not in reality, nothing more than more population control/reduction rubbish.
