McDonald’s Japan announces Maccha Oreo McFlurry and milkshake

Tapping into Japan’s new-found love of Oreo cookies, McDonald’s Japan says that for a limited time only, it will be adding a maccha and Oreo-flavoured McFlurry dessert as well as a maccha milkshake to its seemingly ever-growing menu.

The Japanese-style shake will be available in small and medium sizes for 120 and 190 yen, respectively. The tantalising ice cream cup, meanwhile, will cost 230 yen and comes in one size only.

Both of the seasonal products will be available from March 22 until the middle of May this year. You can rest assured that as soon as we have chance, we’ll be sending one of our reporters down to the golden arches to grab a few and put them through our strict taste test.

I'm surprised that McDonald's didn't roll out this new green maccha and Oreo-flavored McFlurry and milkshake in time for St. Patrick's Day. Missed a very good sales opportunity the little leprechaun in me thinks.

Unfortunately Japan has a very small Irish population and the average Japanese do not know what St. Patrick's Day is.

Sounds gross.

I loved maccha icecream flavor. I used to eat it often when I lived in Japan, and I can't wait to eat more when I go back^-^. Besides, it's healthier than chocolate!

Maccha icecream is really good - Haagen-Dazs does a good one. I would be tempted by the maccha milkshake, if not for the calorific mountain.

Don't give me that. Make time in your schedule on March 22.

Macha rocks. Even the Super Cup icecream by Meiji found in nearly every supermarket/convenience store is happiness, for 126 yen or less. I'd pay 10,000 times that.

Most of the time the things that Japanese McDonald's come out with in Japan, sucks big time, but this is one of those rare occasions where I am looking forward to getting one...or two of these tasty treats. Now if they can not be so stingy with the portion, that would be a big help!

What if I want a large? Can I pretend that they come in small and large sizes?

Is there actually any milk in McD's "milkshakes"?

I like their vanilla shake. The blueberry shake is still at some McD's locations.

this actually is already out so not sure where the March 22nd came from. I tried to today with a friend and it was actually very delicious! The matcha flavor wasn't overbearing.

Had one yesterday, very nice. I really enjoyed it. Yes, the Matcha is very light.

Hey....wait a second! Article says it comes out tomorrow and I'm pretty sure the poster I saw in store also said the 22nd....where is this cheating McDonalds you went to? I can be there within the hour.

This isn't new. They did this five years ago.
