Non-alcoholic fruity beer released

Beverage company Hakusui-sha, which is known for its Hi-Sour drinks — carbonated flavor sodas used for making mixed alcoholic beverages such as shochu, gin, vodka, liqueurs, and so on — is selling a brand new product, “HiHop,” which is a non-alcoholic fruity beer for 189 yen (330ml).

There are two flavors, “Chardonnay beer taste” and “Lemon beer taste”.

“Chardonnay beer taste” uses high quality Chardonnay grape juice. The drink is not sweet at all; it has a fruity light taste with a touch of bitterness. “Lemon beer taste” uses juice from Sicilian lemons. It has the mixed aroma of hops and lemons and a soft bitter taste, making it easy to drink for many people.

Hakusui-sha is planning to add new flavors and expand the HiHop brand.

According to company president Hideko Tanaka, non-alcoholic drinks with zero calories, sugar and purine are very popular, especially among Japanese women.

These drinks are popular because they are good for weight control and healthy, and good for people who don’t like alcohol, but who want to drink something other than soft drinks when they are socializing.

Non-alcoholic drinks go well with food and taste great after working out, too.

Non alcohol beverages are already being sold by Suntory and Asahi too. Suntory is selling the non-alcoholic cocktail brand “Nonarukibun” and non-alcholic beer taste “ALL-FREE“. Asahi has the non-alcoholic cocktail brand “Double Zero Cocktail“.

LOL! But it is a soft drink, right?

seen some parents here in Japan giving these faux-beers to their children - cringe - would never do that myself.

ultradork - my son (3 yo) loves the Suntory premium free beer. I give it to him because I'm sure it's better for his health than 99% of the fruit juices you can buy. At least this brand is guaranteed to be made out of the four beer ingredients, and contains no chemicals, preservatives, alcohol (of course) etc. It is really a liquid bread...

Bad writing. It should say: good for people who want to drink beer or a cocktail, but want to avoid the alcoholic content.

I say, avoid these young women at all cost. There is nothing sexier than a nice young lush who loves to throw back the good stuff.

Any alcohol-free beer is already fruity in my book.

Non-alcoholic beer = Non-climax intercourse. Pointless.

I'd rather have a cup of tea in either situation.

I think the product is a bit expensive, but it is good to see that for those who enjoy an alcoholic free 'beer' there is more choice available.
