On-demand food delivery service launches English website in Sendai

HOLAX, a company based in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, has launched an English website for its food delivery service. In addition to partnering with restaurants across Sendai to bring their delicious meals to customers, HOLAX also provides a grocery shopping delivery service.

HOLAX was formed in March 2018 by Franz and Rie Lawrence. Lawrence says, “During Rie's pregnancy her stomach was really huge, so it was difficult for her to get around. She searched the internet many times for delivery services that could do her grocery shopping as well as deliver it to her. The delivery services that she found were expensive, or they had a minimum order rule, or they only offered delivery once per week. There wasn't a single service that offered delivery at an affordable cost in a timely manner.

“We decided then to create a delivery service for the people of Sendai that would be both affordable and time efficient. Initially we focused on pregnant women, mothers with newborn babies, and the elderly. Now we've expanded and our services are used by people of all ages. It is a pleasure to serve the people of Sendai through delivery.

Ordering is quite simple. HOLAX does grocery shopping from supermarkets, drugstores and even convenience stores. It also picks up meals from restaurants. You place your order by phone or LINE, say what you’d like, where you’d like the company to pick it up, and your desired address.

Delivery is within two hours from the time your order is placed to the time you receive your goods. If your order is 1,000 yen or less, then the delivery fee is 500 yen. If your order is more than a 1,000 yen, then the delivery fee is 800 yen. Payment for deliveries are by cash only.
