The New York Grill & Bar, a landmark venue located on the 52nd floor of Park Hyatt Tokyo in Nishi-Shinjuku, will host a special breakfast event to mark the rare annular solar eclipse, which will take place on Monday, May 21.
The New York Grill will open for breakfast for the first time ever, for guests to enjoy the rare opportunity to view the eclipse, while enjoying the luxuries of the hotel’s breakfast and dedicated service. In Japan, this will be the first time to observe the annular solar eclipse since it was observed in Okinawa in 1987. A partial solar eclipse will begin at 6:19 a.m.followed by an annular solar eclipse at 7:32 a.m., ending at 9:03 a.m. The next annular solar eclipse will happen in Hokkaido on June 1, 2030.
Time: 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Venue: New York Grill & Bar 52F Price: Breakfast buffet 3,000 yen (Japanese breakfast 3,800 yen for a limited number) Prices include tax and are subject to a 10% service charge. The annular solar eclipse will be visible to the east at New York Bar. Guests seated at New York Grill will need to visit the New York Bar in order to view the eclipse. The annular solar eclipse may not be visible due to weather conditions. Limited supply of solar viewing sunglasses will be available for guests’ use.

I took my in-laws there to celebrate my Father in-laws retirement.
The NY Grill has a starter and dessert buffet that is served on a long table.
At the start of the meal both my MiL and FiL returned from the buffet with starters and desserts on the same plates, it was pretty strange to see them eating profiteroles and crème brulee before the main course even arrived.

Looks as if the greatest part of this "ring of fire" eclipse can be seen in most of the pacific side of western japan up to Sendai across the pacific to Northern California and down into New Mexico in the United States. < http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:SE2012May20A.png>
