There's no butter in apple butter, but it spreads deliciously

My mom made this stuff when I was young. No one did it better. My oldest sister made pear butter, too. Both these women were outstanding cooks. They're dead now, but I don't want a recipe. I want a free jar just for judgement purposes. I sure couldn't make it myself.

Here in Nagano, the Tsuruya supermarket chain sells "Apple Butter", albeit with butter in it, guess there was no American at hand to teach them the recipe.

If it has no butter it should not becallowed to be called butter
