Tokyo restaurant serves up sakura tacos to celebrate cherry blossom season

Despite the pandemic putting a damper on cherry blossom viewing parties, it's getting to be that time of year in Japan where you can throw a stone in any direction and hit a sakura-flavored treat. Krispy Kreme and Starbucks are already dishing out sakura doughnuts and Frappuccinos, but one that might surprise people this year is being served up in Tokyo: sakura tacos.

The spring exclusive sakura tacos will be released from March 1 at Tokyo taco restaurant, Taco Fanatico. The cherry blossom themed treats are actually "dessert tacos", consisting of pink tortillas that sandwich sweet sakura bean paste and a matcha flavored tiramisu-style cream for a taste of Japanese spring.

The dessert sakura tacos will be available at Taco Fantatico until the end of April.

I thought they were going to be “Sakura meat”, which I wouldn't see selling well.
