Turkey isn't that traditional. In the UK, goose was the go-to bird for Christmas. Much better in my exceedingly good opinion.

Turkey in our UK family and many others goes back several decades. The problem with turkey is the cooking. Very few if any in Japan have an oven big enough to cook it. In my air fryer oven, the largest bird size is 2 kg.
The Meatguy sells turkey legs.

Last year, the only turkey left when I got there was over 12kg. Just too much bird for my family

The UK working class started to replace their chicken with dry Turkey in the late 1950's. The more affluent kept to tastier goose.
