Can't take credit for it (thank the Internet) but cheese puns are easy to find and are grate. But some people get feta up with them.

"groan" :)

@goreme, what evidence have you for this?

Ask most Chinese and they will tell you cheese is disgusting.

Yes - only the best melamine laced baby formula is acceptable! :P

With 1.3 billion people, I suppose China has an inexhaustible supply of toe cheese, and it's probably gearing up for a major export drive.

I'm shocked China has food hygiene authorities. One of the most unsanitary places for food I've ever been to.

Reeks of protectionism. Seems all foreign soft cheeses as well blue-Roquefort types are being targeted but hard-cheeses are still ok for now.

Had a good chuckle over 'China's food hygiene authorities' though. Looks like some divisions are working harder than others. Dairy dept 1 - 0 meat/poultry/dog-meat

sf2k- I give you a big thumbs up for that one. Gave me a good laugh, and something to hum for a while.

Stop wasting your time investing in China.

Typical CCP. Guess the local cheese boss paid off the right officials. Banning the import of cheeses because of the mold/bacteria content... But if it is made in China it is still ok to sell...

Chinese authorities of food hygiene are keeping the French cheese out? They have food hygiene authorities? Who actually work?

Well they must have one terrific back-load of work as any visit to China will tell you.
