The consumerist utopia doesn't seem to be working out as planned for the most of us.

According to many reports the drug addiction situation in the US is quickly getting completely out of control, and necessary measures to deal with the problem are nowhere near to be implemented.

Of course the problem is not something simple that one extra law or budget can solve, but when it has become so serious it would be expected that the costly, difficult and slow measures that are required to lessen the impact would already be justified and at least partially put into effect, but apparently the US population (or at least their representatives) still consider the situation has to become worse to reach that point.

And the worse part of it all is even though finding the source or origin of this deadly crap is difficult at best, once again certain ethnic groups get the rap and suffer for it. Drugs were one of the excuses to 'justify' that evil hateful Berlin-ish border wall that Trashtrump wanted and stole money for, and thankfully never came to fruition. It wouldn't have solved anything. He's a liar.

And even worse there are many veterans returning home from these stupid idiotic wasteful TV gladiator wars, and their lives are a shambles. Many of them get hooked to alcohol, nicotine, MJ, and rotten drugs like this. Once again the public condemns them as 'crazy junkies' and turns their heads away.

And the fatcats giggle and the pushers really get a belly laugh. It's sick and sad. Drugs suck.

Fentanyl pushed the number of fatal overdoses in the United States to nearly 110,000 in 2022, a record.

That one line from the article says it all ! 110,000 ( in one year ) human beings that is !!! Can you really get your head around that ?? The mind boggles. unbelievable. Consider....58,000 americans died in vietnam over many years. 2402 died in Afganhistan over many years !!!!.........Do the math !! america....GET A GRIP.

A horror movie becoming real. This is the thing.

The US is watched by people around the world, with a great legacy on so many fronts.

Some things are out of control. Control drug and gun usage in a healthy way, not just mopping up afterwards.

They are both an on-going drain on international respect, and they need plugging fast, whatever it takes.

If anybody is disparaging the US because people take advantage of it being a free society, these are not people that should be taken seriously. Drug use by itself doesn't hurt anybody.

Some shocking videos on the net of Kensington Avenue, Philadelphia if you want to get an idea of the horrific situation.

There are 300 million people in the country. If 100,000 or 0.03% want to commit suicide, there isn't much that can be done to stop it. And your comparison to military deaths is really not relevant.

To highlight how many addicts are dying it can be compared with other deaths. At least 250,000 Americans die each year due to some sort of medical error. But, depending on what is considered a medical mistake, that number could be as high as 440,000.

The 100,000 are the numbers dying from fentanyl not the total number of drug overdoses.

*"It eats up your flesh, like a crocodile," **Martin, who did not wish to give his surname, told AFP during a visit to St. Ann's Corner of Harm Reduction, a drug-support and syringe-exchange center in the Bronx.*

Sounds like deja vu.

Why is this 'flesh-eating drug' approved for veterinary use by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration ? Do pet owners and livestock farmers know what their animals are being given?

As for the opioid problem in the US, I'd always understood that it came from street corner drugs being cheaper than prescription pain-killers. Or the prescription pain-killers not being available for folk with no health insurance. Or the proper medical treatment to prevent the pain in the first place, not being available to folk with no health insurance.

One more reason to do away with the current I'm-alright-Jack price-gouging health insurance industry and replace it with a proper universal health-care system.

Drug addicts need better daily options to get help with their addictions.

Horrific. I've never seen anything like that place before. It's incredible that it exists in the world's richest nation.

Shocking and tragic. Heartbreaking scenes on social media from places like Philadelphia of men and women stumbling around the streets, like hunchback zombies, desperate for their next hit of these drugs. They will mug, bash, rob, break-in, burgle and even kill for cash to supply their next shot of "tranq".

This is an American epidemic.

Japan and every nation must do everything they can to keep these narcotics out. A zero tolerance policy with life sentences for large scale possession is appropriate. Almost all of those people who have begun using "Tranq" will never recover.

So what is your solution? America is dying because of liberal drug policies post-Sept.11. This destruction of America's youth, mostly white, by drugs has been planned and scripted and this is why Hollywood had all their Zombie television shows. Afghanistan was the source of so much opium to feed the American consumer once the government cut off the commercial pills developed at Purdue University. All too obvious.
