This is a long article, so I just skimmed it. However, I would say that, overall, being active is good for your health. Do it!

It's long been known that being active and simple normal movement is good for lower back pain. The worse thing you can do is immobilise your back. That's why corsets and supports aren't recommended anymore.

I'd say this is almost certainly true. The more physically active I am, the fewer niggles I tend to have.
