Little evidence shows cannabis helps chronic pain or PTSD

I think that depends on whether you including "forgetting about it" as "helping".

...there hasn’t been enough high-quality research to produce conclusive evidence of the benefits or harms of cannabis

So quit smoking that cheap stuff that's loaded up with seeds and stems, and blaze up with some better quality product. Problem solved.

“Medical cannabis is no magic pill,” Hauser said.

Well, neither are any of the other prescribed drugs that are so widely excepted.

The Veterans Health Service is a part of the Federal Govt. which considers marijuana a Class 1 Drug the same as Heroin so don't expect any ringing endorsements of medical cannabis from them. There are plenty of testimonials from people including veterans who ingest cannabis for a variety of medical reasons including chronic pain and PTSD with very good results.

While I'm not explicitly against medical marijuana, and I do believe clinical trials should be done... I'd like to remind you that throughout history there were plenty of things that had "testimonials" and "good results".

Just a few off the top of my head...

Mercury as a cure for syphilis, as well as other purported diseases and symptoms.

Heroin as a cough suppressant. From our good friends at Bayer no less.

Lobotomies...

So... Of course I don't expect any "ringing endorsements" from the U.S. government without clinical trials to prove/disprove it's efficacy to treat anything. Certainly not ringing endorsements based on "testimonials" from people diagnosed with PTSD or chronic pain. I do feel for them, and do wish that the U.S. would fund the trials to clear up the fog of smoke surrounding the controversy regarding medical marijuana.

Not surprising at all there are no large scale trials / studies publicly available , however there are tons and tons of personal testimonies from people who have used it for medical purposes and swear by the results.... even if only half of those were true I, d believe them over big pharma funded studies that would bring a foregone conclusion. Big pharmas first and foremost interest is to protect its profits, like any other corporation.

“If cannabis is being considered for medical use, it should certainly be after all well-established treatments have failed,”

That would be all the well-established 'chemical' treatments that rot out livers and kidneys, would it not? Smoking pot is much better than taking serapax (SP) or mogadon (SP) for depression and pain relief. Those drugs will kill you!
