The test represents a very necessary improvement over the PSA test that is unfortunately still very commonly used, even if it frequently leads to false positives and negatives.

One very important thing is that the test is based on the identification of a well characterized genetic factor of risk, that has been not only correlated with increased incidence but also this relationship explained by the reduction of DNA repair because of the mutations.

It will be interesting to see how this and other similar tests change the way cancers are searched for, hopefully improving survival without increasing too much unnecessary treatment.
