Letʻs hope Japan has plans to purchase this vaccine instead of waiting on a domestically produced inferior one

90% protection against Covid, and the other 10% provided by wearing a mink coat.

Really good news! Well done, Pfizer, well done! Hopefully the vaccinations will begin in December/January.

3 ( +15 / -12 )

They waited until after the election to annouce this.

-17 ( +13 / -30 )

rushed vaccine no thanks

-4 ( +14 / -18 )

It can have a 100 percent fail rate too, this vaccine has no component of the virus, if it was not tested on animal and it did not contract the virus

-14 ( +6 / -20 )

who will be liable for any side effects with these vaccines wether it be from

Pfizer or anyone else. Me family and I are not human guinea pigs.

-3 ( +7 / -10 )

Good news.

Pfizer might apply for approvals in another 1-2 weeks , which means there is a good possibility of it being available before the year end.

Astra Zeneca should release results by the month end, so things are up.

0 ( +5 / -5 )

Damn good news! Esp for stock holders

2 ( +5 / -3 )

The Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine is reported to be effective among all age groups, which is particularly important for older people. I hope the same turns out to be true for the Pfizer vaccine.

6 ( +8 / -2 )

I guess that since the vaccine was developed during the Trump administration no Democrats will be interested in being vaccinated with this vaccine.

-15 ( +5 / -20 )

Wolfpack.....give it up already. This is about Pfizer’s potential Covid vaccine and you had to be that guy to make it a Demo-Repub thing.

16 ( +19 / -3 )

The Dems politicized it - not me. Gov Cuomo of NY was at it again yesterday.

-13 ( +5 / -18 )

Kobe: who will be liable for any side effects with these vaccines wether it be from

Are you afraid the Japanese government will physically force you to risk your families lives? You don’t have to take it you know.

Wolfpack....you making it a political issue here based on the above article.

This is important news for the whole planet. Look outside your bubble.

9 ( +11 / -2 )

Very good news!

But bad news for all the fear mongering, paranoid people...their job will be done then.

2 ( +10 / -8 )

Letʻs hope Japan has plans to purchase this vaccine instead of waiting on a domestically produced inferior one

Says it right in the article

The drugmakers have also reached supply agreements with the United Kingdom, Canada and Japan.

I guess that since the vaccine was developed during the Trump administration no Democrats will be interested in being vaccinated with this vaccine.

Accepting defeat is difficult.

And just to set the record trump’s vaccine was hydroxychloroquine.

Manufactured by a company he had personal stake in.

He wanted to make money off this too.

12 ( +15 / -3 )

who will be liable for any side effects with these vaccines wether it be from

All drug companies developing vaccines with no long term clinical trials are 100% immune from any prosecution due to side effects or deaths.

Are you afraid the Japanese government will physically force you to risk your families lives? You don’t have to take it you know.

Japanese govt has already ordered and paid for 120m doses. Same as the total population.

0 ( +5 / -5 )

120 million doses are for 60 million people.(2 doses for 1 person)

I think many people will not be vaccinated in early stage.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

But bad news for all the fear mongering, paranoid people...their job will be done then.

No doubt fear mongerers are living their lives as before covid but just love making other people miserable. The paranoid can't be helped though lol

0 ( +5 / -5 )

Wonderful news. We haven't crossed the finish line yet, but we are going down the stretch. No wonder the stock markets are so happy. Biden and a vaccine, all in one weekend.

9 ( +11 / -2 )

@Nomination

No doubt fear mongerers are living their lives as before covid but just love making other people miserable

100% agree!

-2 ( +4 / -6 )

@Nomination: Also - agree. It is pathetic that anybody thinks this is bad news, politically motivated or otherwise. Its a POSITIVE step in the right direction. I do not personally believe that this vaccine will be the ONE. But the situation is looking up.

I really fear for foreigners here, in Japan who clearly just want to be stuck in this quandary and/or hoping for further bad news.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

I'll be first in line to take it, from Pfizer.

Not scared at all.

Everyday we consume harmful things like chemicals in everything, trans-fat, pesticides, pollution, alcohol, plastics..

What's the difference.

1 ( +6 / -5 )

I'll be first in line to take it, from Pfizer.

Not scared at all.

Well, you can't, lots of people who were not scared to take the still unproven vaccine beat you to it =)

That's how this thing got tested.

10 ( +10 / -0 )

There were over 40,000 volunteers!

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Hope you peeps made a killing at Monday's US market rally.

"The Dems politicized it - not me. Gov Cuomo of NY was at it again yesterday."

I totally agree. So many Democrat politicians said they wouldn't take the vaccine or advise people to take it if Trump endorsed it. Now, Cuomo said that he thinks Trump should not be the one distributing it and says that Biden/Harris should be the one's distributing the "same exact vaccine." So, the vaccine would be more effective if Biden/Harris distribute it? Lol. It doesn't matter who distributes it as long as it is effective and helps the people.

Also, the same Democrat politicians blocked hydroxychloroquine from being prescribed in many states six months ago. It could have possibly helped many people as treatment or prophylaxis in last six months. Instead they pushed Remdesivir that has basically same results as HCQ. Democrats just kept saying HCQ was dangerous, However, on the CDC website, it says that HCQ being used as a malaria prophylaxis is safe for pregnant women in all trimesters which is extremely rare for any medication to be safe for pregnant women.

This proves when nationalism are putting aside two westerner companies can achieve significant things, american Pfitzer and german BioNTech made a fruitf cooperation for the benefit of humanity.

And I don’t think this announce is connected with Trump’s lost.

For sure with Biden we want to expect a normalization between the US and it’s natural allied and partner the EU.

"Letʻs hope Japan has plans to purchase this vaccine instead of waiting on a domestically produced inferior one"

LOL, Read the following:

I would like to have the vaccine once it is in use for a while. I am not high risk and hope that people who are can get it ahead of me.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Cool. I want an effective vaccine ASAP.

4 ( +7 / -3 )

Might have guessed it would be Pfizer.  Saviours of old people again!

0 ( +3 / -3 )

This vaccine probably wont be available to general population in Japan until 2022. Not only is there the supply issue, but the vaccine needs to be stored at -80C, there’s not enough cold transport capacity to import.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Thank you Germany and Austria (BioNTech) for coming up with the vaccine. Congrats to Phizer for getting associated with the success of others by offering your resources for testing/distribution. (Not as bad as Pence claiming it was a US initiative, of course.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Let’s break it down to 45% , as half of the testing is done with placebos. In addition, who cares about such news if the data bases on 8 out of 94 people. Are you kidding me?

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

Might have guessed it would be Pfizer. Saviours of old people again!

Pfizers mr Blue saved my "old" bf. lol

Want to get this vaccine!

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Let’s break it down to 45% , as half of the testing is done with placebos.

Or let’s leave it to the people who actually know what they’re talking about, since your statement shows you don’t.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

They waited until after the election to annouce this.

Leo San.

I think they want to get rid of that orange bump first.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Yay thank you finally we can go back to normal soon, but we should never forget 2020.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Bit rude of someone to downvote me for wanting "an effective vaccine ASAP". Do they think that vaccines should be ineffective? Do they think that vaccines should come as late as possible? Or do they just want me in particular not to have one, implicitly threatening my life?

Whatever it is, it's pretty impolite.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

The man-child will be angry this made news AFTER the election. Tee hee hee.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

I expect to see the number of Corona virus drop in America first if this report is true.

Japan bought similar Moderna vaccine instead, but the first supply isn't arriving in Japan until April 2021.

BioNTech vaccine is super difficult to transport, as it requires a -70C temperature storage at all times, so it wouldn't make it to Japan anyway, it's for US and EU consumption only.

@garth

The Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine is reported to be effective among all age groups, which is particularly important for older people

You do not want the Oxford vaccine, as it produces only 1/4th of neutralizing antibody levels compared to RNA vaccines like this one due to human's natural built immunity against adenovirus. Yes, the Oxford vaccine is cheap and is easy to distribute, but it doesn't offer as much protection.

This is a Mrna vaccine it do not even have the coronavirus protein, but use a synthetic molecular molecule to bind with the spike proteins of the coronavirus, it safety is in question, because it have not been tested on people with the virus already in their body

Everyday we consume harmful things like chemicals in everything, trans-fat, pesticides, pollution, alcohol, plastics..

Hey, watch how you talk about alcohol!

Having a vaccine is great news, though it will be a while before it will be ready.

You still need to wear a mask through 2021.

All the vaccine conspiracy theories are just silly, and that tracking microchip they implant will be useful when you drink too much and can’t find your way home.

Talk about achohol that stuff is poison and killing your liver hope your not drowning in it. I hope i wont drown in booze. Best to stay away from that stuff its killing a lot of people. You wouldn't need to rely on a RFID nano chip embeeded in your skin to make it home if you just don't drink. It also a reminder for me to cut back on that poison too. Drinking is a vicous never ending cycle. Hope the best of recovery.

make it very expensive for China government....

That’s just silly. Humanity as a whole will benefit from this virus being contained, controlled, and hopefully eventually eradicated.

But some people would rather play silly politics rather than deal with a problem faced by all of humanity.

China already claims that their vaccine Sinovac is successful so they can make do with it. Brazil recently halted further trials of Sinovac, but I am sure China can just copy or steal the research (something they are really good at) from Pfizer and come up with another 'successful' vaccine.

This is a Mrna vaccine it do not even have the coronavirus protein, but use a synthetic molecular molecule to bind with the spike proteins of the coronavirus,

That is false, mRNA is the instructions used by the cells to produce the spike protein, there is no binding of any kind involved. The mRNA is introduced to the cells, it gets translated into the protein and produced so the body reacts as in a normal infection.

And there you go folks, the above is case in point of what I said:
