It's a sad state of Family finances when basics such as shoes are ignored.
It's understandable that Parents will forgo new shoes for themselves in order to buy their Kids Shoes - I do this. But for the Seniors, keeping a 30 year old pair of worn down shoes that fit well , but have worn heals or bottoms doesn't make sense. Go to a Shoe Repair shop and get new heals / soles fitted, and save the cost of Medical bills due to a slip or sprained ankle.
Maybe a Government voucher for such a repair would be useful once you get to a certain age ? The cost of such a program may be more beneficial than doing nothing ?
