But Bronco, Delta is still out there and affecting people! So if you are vaccinated with two shots you get protected that way. IF you get the booster, then you are protected against Omicron. But if you feel you have the strength to fight these various viruses without any vaccine, you go ahead. Just don't run to a doctor or hospital if you become infected. Ok!

Got my booster a week ago, so good news!

Lucky. I'll have to wait until April at least before I can get mine. Unless Japan brings it forward further.

Three shots of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines were about 67% effective against omicron-related symptomatic disease compared with unvaccinated people. Two doses, however, offered no significant protection against Omicron when measured several months after completion of the original series, the researchers found.

Reporting like this makes me mad. A paragraph like this leads people to believe that the two dose series offers "zero" protection at all from omicron. But that is not true. This study is looking at "symptomatic disease". It's not comparing the effects of 2 or 3 doses on hospitalization or deaths. The study says that people who have a booster were 67% less likely to develop symptoms compared to someone who had two doses. This is only talking about experiencing symptoms. And, it is a comparison to two doses. It does not say two doses does nothing!

From another news source talking about the exact same study:

That study of just over 13,000 US Omicron cases found that the odds of developing a symptomatic infection were 66% lower for people who were boosted compared to those who had only received two shots.

Some interesting data from the UK on deaths from COVID-19 in people with no pre-existing conditions shows that, for England and Wales in 2020 (so before vaccines were available), there were:

9,432 total deaths

7,875 aged ≥65

1,557 aged ≤64

with the average age being 81

151E...

Obesity is the norm in the UK and not included as a "pre existing condition". There are also those who have but are unaware of their pre existing health problems.

Where did you get the average age being 81? It clearly isn't.
