Not yet a practical solution and still with a lot of problems to solve, but it is quickly becoming more and more useful thanks to scientific and technical advances in many fields. As long as no unexpected disadvantage is found this trend is likely to continue and maybe even accelerate in the near future.
Who knows if in 10 years or so paralysis like the one affecting the patient in the article would be no longer a permanent problem?
