Canada is such a trailblazer. Hands down, the country and people I respect the most in the world.

Talk about thinking outside the box! Dunno if it'll work but it's worth a try. Agree with Aly, Canada & its ppl are in a different league (alongside Scandinavians, perhaps).

Thanks for the kukos, Aly and goldorak. I don't know that we're the most deserving of respect in the world, but we've got a pretty nice country to live in, and to claim as home when we travel. The program mentioned has a research component that I hope proves its theory; exposure to art does, indeed, improve my own attitude, and if that's the result of 'feel-good hormones', there just may be hope for all of us.

I wonder how many posters here know that the art gallery in Victoria BC has the largest Japanese art collection outside of Japan?

Not surprised that this is happening in Quebec. But we'll see how we're fairing after next week when the ultra conservative Ontario government discusses reforming our welfare system (uh oh). Last time a conservative government did that it decimated the province's poor people. While it's nice to think so, it's not all rainbows and unicorns up here

That's correct, Trevor Peace. The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria or AGGV does have such a collection and regularly showcases segments of its extensive holdings. They have also brought in exceptional collections such as the 2014 kimono exhibit.

But before the monitor gets me for straying off topic, Japanese artist Senju Hiroshi, whose work The Art of Waterfall I viewed recently, speaks of beauty as a spiritual experience. Spiritual and physical malaise are often linked; therefore it makes sense to research the effect of regular exposure to art on health and wellness.

Also, don't you have the largest japanese garden outside japan in the Butchart Gardens? Went there the summer before last with my wife and son. LOVED it. THAT should also be prescribed by doctors for depression. Really lifting.

Trev- am taking the ILETS next saturday the 10th to start the immigration process to your amazing country. Wish me luck.
