The UK move has been in the works for some time, so it should be no surprise. Kellogg faces this and similar moves all over Europe. Their solicitors are going to be very busy . . . and get very rich.

From the UK's Department of Health and Social Care:

When I was in Texas, the local grocery chain remodeled and put the cereal and candy on the same isle. It was insane. Mothers were dragging their children out of the isle. This was dragging them along the floor while they threw fits and sometimes really screamed. It was surreal and showed you how food was a reinforcement for advertising and visa versa. I spoke with the manager and he had never seen it in all his years. The store eventually got back to its original floor plan but what living lesson. These children, those products and an ingredient called sugar...

Cornflakes are disgusting and have absolutely no nutritional value. Have an egg or three instead then you get B vitamins and so on

it depends, but she said it’s just nonsense, there’s a lot of nutritional value in cereal, it depends on what kind of cereal you get, the good thing about America is or any other country is we have an abundance of choices when it comes to cereal, so you can get cereal with more protein with sugar, it just all depends on what you like, but we have choices, I have always surreal my whole life and we never grew up on the sugary stuff, but even when I was a kid we had options even Wayback in the day. You may personally not like cornflakes, but the rest of the world likes it and even if you don’t like it, you have other options. Having said that, I pretty much don’t buy anything from Kellogg’s and that’s for other reasons

I don't think cornflakes are affected by these new rules. It is the more sugary things such as Coco Pops that will be affected. Most young kids don't like cornflakes, which may indicate they are good for you.

I'm a Weetabix person myself.

It adds that one in four adults are obese,

There is the problem so tax the fatties extra so they can't afford their cakes. Leave the rest of us who aren't an burden on the health service and society alone.

I was surprised to find that Cornflakes and Frosties have almost the same sugar levels. Only one has them on the outside.

I am simply shocked at how hard it is to find cereal in Japan without a ton of sugar. I find myself sticking to oatmeal mainly. I can find Weetabix but the prices are ridiculous.

Are you sure? The article below says Frosties have much more sugar.

I will check this out more next time I am at the supermarket. (Do you think I make a PhD thesis out of this?)

Its about time, while sure there are choices, the world of cereals most of it has tons of sugar. Too much cereal is like soda pop, what I call slow poison!!!

Going beyond cereal there are far too many processed food loaded with sugars & salt & you see the result looking western countries....a TON of people with weight issues & far too many seriously obese, not good!

Kellogg’s are pathetic, how does putting the milk in make a difference to the sugar content. They peddle junk food and these cereals should be treated the same as sweets.

The new rules mean supermarkets can’t sell junk food on special offer and can’t display these foods in certain areas of the shop.

albaleo....

Are you sure? The article below says Frosties have much more sugar.

You are correct. The ones I compared were not Kellog's but "own brand" ones from Aeon supermarket.

Putting tax on food to fight obesity is like taxing cars to stop speeding. Not everyone is speeding and not everyone is obese. Charge the obese people for obesity related health problems.... They will still make the wrong food choices regardless of a few pennies extra on their Mars bar. Just make them pay to cover the burden they put on social services.

On my last UK trip I made it back with a pack of Weetabix which is today’s breakfast.

Envy you, then @kurisupisu 8:27am. - At Kansai & Chubu’s TRIAL stores (WalmartSuperstorelookalike) we could get Weetabix pre-2020 global issues. Any clue where it’s presently available Kyoto-Osaka ?
