You’d think with the biggest ever profits made during the Covid pandemic by tax payer funded vaccines, that the pharmaceutical companies would do the right thing and help towards this problem.

A shortage of cholera vaccines is likely to last until 2025 as outbreaks surge worldwide, a global vaccine alliance said, days after the World Health Organization warned that the short-term outlook for controlling the disease was bleak.

Of course who cares the disease mostly affect the so called third world countries in Africa, Asia, South America & etc. Developing vaccines for these countries doesn't have much profit for the pharmaceutical companies in the so called first worlds. So why should they care? So in short they are saying die you bastards until after 2 years maybe we will make a few more vaccines. It's disgusting.

Another failed mission by the WHO, which supposedly had the jump on this years ago.

No surprises though as this mismanaged agency fumbles through health crisis after health crisis.

Another catastrophe by this disorganized "organization".

You keep trying to argue that the WHO should have infinite amount of resources to solve every single health problem of the world, that makes absolutely no sense and that is not what is realistically possible, as described in the article the primary cause of the shortage is the increase of cases because of armed conflict. Unless you can provide a way to spend infinite amount of resources to stockpile as much vaccines as it could be needed on any kind of situation the criticism is invalid, cholera is not the only disease affecting humans right now.

Can you provide a quote from my or the other poster's comment that reads, "the WHO should have infinite amount of resources to solve every single health problem of the world,"?

Because no one made that claim. Why invent something just to argue against it?

Regardless, the WHO failed in their efforts on the cholera front. Good to see that you accept that.

Nobody is saying this, Other than you.

That means you accept the WHO failed in their attempt to deal with this crisis even though they supposedly already had a plan years in the making.

When you blame any health problem in the world without explaining how the WHO would supposedly be able to solve it this is exactly what you are arguing.

If you want to say this is not the case then you first need to clarify what mechanism the WHO could have used to solve a problem that was not done, without that your criticism is just claiming this fantasy based capacity as the supposed solution, which is not rational.

Nobody is saying this, Other than you.

You have not offered any realistic way for the WHO to solve every health problem in the world that you blame on it, that means this is what you are arguing.

No, it just mean nobody has access to magical infinite resources, that the WHO is the global authority do not mean it could solve everything by itself, but fortunately it does mean that it is the organization that does the most to address the problem.

Yes, this problem is well-known in the medical community,

The WHO is failing in their global strategy they set to deal with this and are not meeting their goal. This is either because of their misunderstanding of the issue, poor management, or a combination of those and other factors--which all in all is a recipe for this disaster.

Not really part of this discussion.....and I hope that production of cholera vaccine increases very soon......but I will always remember the vaccinations they gave us when we were going through boot camp. Not just cholera, but yellow fever, small pox, bubonic plague, polio, influenza, and seemingly everything they could get their hands on.

The WHO is not responsible from stopping wars or produce the necessary resources, what it can do (as in this article) is to identify the problems that need to be adddressed and to call for those in control of the resources on the best way to use them. Pretending otherwise without giving a realistic approach on what could have been done better is not a valid criticism.

Cholera vaccine shortage to last until 2025 as cases surge

An incredible failure by the WHO, which set off to take care of this several years ago, but got sidetracked with their saddling up to China.

As the poor suffer.
