Got my second yesterday. Zero side effects. Science is our friend.

7 ( +15 / -8 )

This problem is a reflection of the attitude of many conservative figures that want to support things that can be proven wrong or counterproductive by science and therefore it becomes the "enemy" to defeat. Unfortunately for them science has the appeal of being the responsible for a huge lot of advancement that have made life much safer and better, so going against science is not so simple, and it is done in roundabout, indirect ways, with things that only appear scientific or people that have abandoned their professional responsibilities to recommend false things giving them a thin paint over of "scientific" using their credentials.

Eventually this falls down under its own weight, but the damage is done, contradictory messages that confuse people that are genuinely interested in getting informed.

-2 ( +9 / -11 )

**The mixed messaging can come from the same media outlet — **and even the same source.

And even from the chief medical adviser to the president, Dr. Fauci, who first told Americans they don't need masks. Then in a turnaround, they do need to wear masks.

So every media outlet that showed that news provided mixed messages.

Diehard libs here got those messages from CNN of course.

-9 ( +7 / -16 )

CNN brainwashed more than half of the US, and look at the mess this administration has us in.

Did some Far right anti libs tell you that or did you get that news off CNN yourself?

...Sean Hannity looked straight into the camera to deliver a clear message: “It absolutely makes sense for many Americans to get vaccinated. I believe in science. I believe in the science of vaccinations.”Yet Hannity followed up his statement by interviewing a woman protesting her college’s requirement that students be vaccinated, a segment appealing to people skeptical of the immunization push.

No mixed messages there. Yes for many, vaccination could be the best approach, but that is very different saying that everyone must get the vaccine.

It's refreshing to see a more balanced view, instead of the usual "you're all going to die and vaccination is the only way you can avoid it". Not everyone is equally at risk from Covid19 and the alleged benefits of vaccination are not equal for everyone...

-7 ( +4 / -11 )

the alleged benefits of vaccination are not equal for everyone...

“alleged” is the wrong word here. You have to accept that there are actual benefits if you are going to finish with “not equal for everyone”

5 ( +8 / -3 )

Yes, for some people there are some clear benefits, but these come with side effects: some serious, some not so serious, some known and possibly many unknown.

Vaccines reduce the chance of getting sick from the infection. For a very large chunk of the population, this is already the case without vaccination (i.e., no benefit for these people).

-6 ( +3 / -9 )

“That’s their choice,” Kilmeade replied.

Proves the point that you don’t need a functioning brain to be a conservative media host. A hateful mindset flavored with hate and divisiveness is all that’s required.

Funny thing is all these hosts have taken the vaccine, they just want their sheep not take it.

4 ( +7 / -3 )

No mixed messages there. Yes for many, vaccination could be the best approach, but that is very different saying that everyone must get the vaccine.

For anybody that is included in the groups that can be vaccinated the vaccine is the best approach and reduce their risks, the problem is using false or misleading information to exaggerate the risks of vaccines and pretend COVID have no risks for some people in order to say vaccines would not be the best option for them. The mixed message come from including precise, valid information and then following it with misleading, mistaken information that says the contrary. That is not a balanced view, it is diluting true information with false one for purposes different from promoting public health.

Yes, for some people there are some clear benefits, but these come with side effects: some serious, some not so serious, some known and possibly many unknown.

Which also apply for COVID, except with a much higher probability and importance, after all COVID infection already has produced permanent effects, that many conservative sources try very hard to hide because they contradict the point they want to make.

Vaccines reduce the chance of getting sick from the infection. For a very large chunk of the population, this is already the case without vaccination (i.e., no benefit for these people).

That is a conclusion that requires objective data to be said, new variants have shown to produce disease even of importance on people with previous infection, specially aymptomatic people. So where is your data that proves previously infected people have less problems than people that are both infected and later vaccinated? if the opposite is true that means people do have plenty of benefits from being vaccinated.

Make no mistake, the folks on Fox News, like F. Carlson, Ingraham, that angry judge and Insanity have all had their shots. Make no mistake.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

Trump people, when Tucker finally says to get your shots will you do it? Or think for yourselves? Because Jim Jones type Trump people always follow their leader.

What's wrong with following up with a opposing viewpoint?

What's wrong with dying:

I wouldn’t heed to many of these media talking heads anyway.

The Covid Vaccine Cult will soon be made aware of the realities of what an unproven EUA medicine can and cannot do.

And how a shaky narrative holds up over the long term.

And now that the PCR cycle adjustments are being scrutinized for all the false positives, so will the mounting evidence of vaccine longer term side effects.

Get ready for your boosters. Now that the conservative media is befuddled as well.

Get ready for your boosters. Now that the conservative media is befuddled as well.

Yeah, and since the side effects have so far been much more severe after the second dose compared to the first dose, I worry about how bad the adverse reactions will be with each future booster shot. How many vaccine casualties will it take before they pull their heads out of the sand and start talking about it.

-6 ( +6 / -12 )

The Covid Vaccine Cult will soon be....

...able to enter private businesses while Trump people miss all the fun on traveling and dining.

How many vaccine casualties will it take before they pull their heads out of the sand and start talking about it.

Need to see what Tucker has to say about that. I think he said millions? Or something?

-2 ( +4 / -6 )

The Covid Vaccine Cult will soon be made aware of the realities of what an unproven EUA medicine can and cannot do.

The typical exit for people that repeatedly are proven mistaken is to foretell that in the future things will be different just because, as if the evidence that currently exist would disappear and the references they use that are proven wrong would suddenly become true, that has happened from the beginning of the pandemic, and these people are still telling about the huge crisis vaccines are going to produce with people having huge problems and dying because of them, just not now because, some conspiracy or something.

And now that the PCR cycle adjustments are being scrutinized for all the false positives, so will the mounting evidence of vaccine longer term side effects.

But yet again, the best evidence that can be produced is a video, not a scientific analysis that can contradict the specificity analysis of the many different kits available when used as instructed including the multiple failsafe mechanisms to avoid false positives, almost as if it was just baseless accusations.

Yeah, and since the side effects have so far been much more severe after the second dose compared to the first dose, I worry about how bad the adverse reactions will be with each future booster shot.

On what scientific evidence you base this supposed need of boosters? and why the boosters have to be done with the version that produce more side effects? Understanding the role that boosters have and their differences with priming doses of the vaccine make those worries irrelevant, specially because it is still much more likely that they are not even necessary in the first place.

It's a complicated situation. There is genuine concern about limiting the spread of a nasty and possibly deadly disease by insisting on vaccinations. But then there is genuine concern about vaccination injury or death, with each side insisting on their rights.

The only solution is individual freedom to choose without judgement or punishment. Those concerned about Covid are free to get vaccinated, stay home, avoid crowded areas, etc. Those concerned about vaccine injury can avoid them. If concerned about Covid they can also stay home, avoid crowded areas etc.

I think that's a fair solution that takes everyone's rights into account.

-5 ( +4 / -9 )

It's a complicated situation. There is genuine concern about limiting the spread of a nasty and possibly deadly disease by insisting on vaccinations. But then there is genuine concern about vaccination injury or death, with each side insisting on their rights.

Indeed! And it is further complicated by the fact that vaccination is not the only solution, no matter how hard big pharma is trying to convince us of that. There are various drugs that are effective and extremely safe, but which regulators do not want us to get because they must push the vaccines...

The only solution is individual freedom to choose without judgement or punishment.

Yes! But not only freedom for the individual, but also freedom for the doctors to treat their patients as they see fit (in consultation with their patients)...

-2 ( +5 / -7 )

A Newsmax anchor, Rob Schmitt, on July 9 questioned whether vaccinations go against nature.

“If there’s some disease out there, maybe there’s just an ebb and flow to life where something’s supposed to wipe out a certain amount of people, and that’s just the way evolution goes,” he said. “Vaccines kind of stand in the way of that.”

If you take that view, you'd have to apply it to any man-made thing that protects you from nature - shoes, warm clothes, insect repellant, houses.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

The only solution is individual freedom to choose without judgement or punishment.

Which is what is being done, the problem is people that instead of choosing between full social-distancing/hygientic measures on one side and vaccination replacing some of those measures on the other side pretend to choose none, and live their lives as if they represented no risk for others, which is obviously an invalid choice. The problem is not that they are concerned about vaccines, but that irrationally they are also unconcerned about the risk they represent to others, in clear contradiction with the evidence from the experts.

Indeed! And it is further complicated by the fact that vaccination is not the only solution, no matter how hard big pharma is trying to convince us of that.

One, whatever the manufacturers say is not important, the consensus of science is the one that recommend the vaccines, and not as "the only solution", that is just a strawman argument that antivaxxer propaganda likes to promote because it has no argument against the real one, which is that vaccines are an important part of the best possible solution for the pandemic, that are effective and safe at preventing infection, complications and deaths, much more than many of the failed candidate treatments that anti-scientific people like to push as a supposed alternative, even when they have resulted in minimal or no efficacy paired with important risks for the patients.

Yes! But not only freedom for the individual, but also freedom for the doctors to treat their patients as they see fit (in consultation with their patients)...

As long as the treatment they want to use have demonstrated efficacy according to the best available science, or get an ethical committee approval to run their proper clinical trial, else there is no freedom to deceive patients into getting health risks on treatments that provide no benefits. Laws are necessary to protect patients from unethical or badly prepared doctors that think their opinion is more valid than the whole scientific community in general.

Laws are necessary to protect patients from unethical or badly prepared doctors that think their opinion is more valid than the whole scientific community in general.

The general consensus of the experts is not always correct. Remember how we were convinced by the 'experts' that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction? The West invaded, hundreds of thousands died and.....you know the story. No WMD's ever found. At the time dissenting experts and others were mocked, marginalized, labelled unpatriotic and dangerous, etc.

The opinions of doctors and others that differ from the dominant narrative must be respected.

-3 ( +5 / -8 )

First off, Fox News is not news. It is entertainment. It is the sort of entertainment that is to a significant extent fiction, or less politely lies.

The faux new reporters are actors. Their main goal is to entertain from a right-wing stance. Because they are actors and it is all a show its okay to confuse fiction with the truth.

When it comes to the pandemic and vaccines that save people ignorant actors become dangerous.

"Make no mistake, the folks on Fox News, like F. Carlson, Ingraham, that angry judge and Insanity have all had their shots. Make no mistake," Pukez. Somewhere I've read that Fox News appraently demanded that their actors get vaccinated. If true, it is a smart move for Fox. And us.

The vaccine is safe when used as directed.

I used to think the same thing. Until I actually watched an episode.

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

The general consensus of the experts is not always correct.

That is a lousy argument to say it "must" be false in this case just because you would like it to be so.

Do you have data to prove the consensus is false? then present it and correct the science, no? then you have no argument to say it is false.

The opinions of doctors and others that differ from the dominant narrative must be respected.

Without data so support those opinions? absolutely no, because the data is what gives any value to those opinions, empty opinions are as irrelevant when they come from a child as when they come from a Nobel prize, credentials only work in the way of saying that people that know better than going against the consensus without any data have no excuse to do it.

-5 ( +4 / -9 )

First off, Fox News is not news.

Trump people see it as the 100% truth. The problem is Tucker needs to say the vaccine works then more Trump people will get it. Lots of lives of Trump people depend on what Tucker says. Tucker is just doing his job and if he's gone there will be another Tucker doing the same thing. So please don't blame Tucker. It's the mind of the Jim Jones type Trump people.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

I used to think the same thing. Until I actually watched an episode.

If Tucker says you should get a vaccine, will you get one? It's up to Tucker!

@virusrex

That is a lousy argument to say it "must" be false in this case just because you would like it to be so.

I didn't say that the general consensus re Covid 'must' be false. What I did say is that the dominant opinion of experts has been known to be dead wrong, as in the Iraq War/WMD case I cited. Therefore I said that the opinions of dissenting experts, doctors and others that differ from the dominant narrative must be respected.

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

Therefore I said that the opinions of dissenting experts, doctors and others that differ from the dominant narrative must be respected.

And again, it is, as long as they have the data to sustain their opinions, what you want is for people that have no data but say things you like to hear to be included in the conversation even when it is obvious they have no value on their opinions because they have no data behind it.

Again, saying the consensus is wrong only has value as long as you can prove it with scientifically validated data, when it is just an empty declaration it is irrelevant. Because anybody could say the same to justify whatever they want to do, even things that you may be deeply against, except that in those cases (and only on those cases) you are perfectly fine ignoring their pleas that science may be wrong and therefore they should be left to do what they want.

This is having double standards, one for things you like to believe and another for thinks you don't want to accept, this is intellectually and morally wrong.

I much prefer to hear alternate viewpoints, but some people want to silence anyone who disagrees with their single minded ideas.

Yes! I have found that the expression "never believe anything until it is officially denied" applies to many things around us, and I have found it to often also be applicable to a number of things related to Covid19.

The opinions of doctors and others that differ from the dominant narrative must be respected.

Yes! Instead they get viciously attacked, which is a sign that they are onto something. Governments, regulators, and those who constantly bring up "scientific consensus" are not concerned with the people's health, they only represent big pharma. Dissenting experts should be listened to; ignore them at your own peril.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

Conspiracy theorist piffle.

Listen to some facts and stop from making silly categorizations.

i posted an information link as valid media delivery. Why don’t you critique the media information, instead of posting tiresome cliches?

-4 ( +3 / -7 )

Listen to some facts and stop from making silly categorizations.

If by "facts" you mean imaginary information and retracted studies as you tend to use as sources it would be better not to listen to them, choosing to use them talk a lot about the lack of proper information to support your personal opinions.

Yes! Instead they get viciously attacked, which is a sign that they are onto something.

Yes, conflicts of interest and obvious lies, which is the reason they are attacked, unfortunately many people willingly choose to believe and even promote those lies just because they are more comfortable, resisting to believe clear evidence that supports something you don't like while readily believing obvious lies as long as they say what you like is one very clear example of having double standards. That is the only reason why people demand those lies to be heard as if it had any value, they don't.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

I am sceptical of the premise that the media of choice drives the behavior. I have never watched Carlson other Fox, tarento (let's call them what they are). My father on the other hand watches that channel daily as I turn it off when I enter their house, however he and my mom searched far and wide for the shot to get late winter. They are the generation that watch this tripe and that generation have a very high vax rate.

The lag in adoption rate by Republicans has a great deal more to do with their natural inclination to avoid new things than who they watch on tv or who they vote for or what stores they shop at or name any other division of the US population behavior between political views. In my opinion.
