@venze:

There already is a vaccine against it. It’s mentioned in the article, very last paragraph.

starpunk:

Some posters here have already been trying to link the monkey pox outbreak to Covid vaccines. The disinformation and sheer cynical BS spouted by some of these people is almost beyond belief. Almost.

Starpunk...

But this is no cause or excuse for a ''gay panic' or gay-bashing hysteria like what happened in the US during the 80s and 90s. And monkeypox is not AIDS.

Agreed, it's not fair to blame the gays or ravers.... Much of the fault lies with the monkeys.

Spreading though respiratory droplets is similar to spreading through the air, isn’t it?

WHO also says "Transmission via droplet respiratory particles usually requires prolonged face-to-face contact".

Monkeypox likely spread by sex

With a monkey ?

This unexpected sudden jump in monkeypox, notably in Europe, is no monkey-business, it is real and highly life-threatening.

Must develop an effective vaccine at the earliest..

That was satire. I get it.

It has to be satire because if we read the actual article, we don't see any of this is true at all.

There are around 200 viruses circulating at any given time.

There is absolutely zero reason whatsoever to think 'monkeypox' is any real threat at all, unless you're having risky sexual contact with people whose lesions are rubbing against your own lesions.

Bottom line, to protect yourself and others, be sure to get vaccinated and boosted against Covid-19.

One vaccine, JYNNEOSTM (also known as Imvamune or Imvanex), has been licensed in the United States to prevent monkeypox and smallpox. Because monkeypox virus is closely related to the virus that causes smallpox, smallpox vaccine can also protect people from getting monkeypox.

@starpunk Please don't try to deflect the fact of where the issue is and where it came from, just learn from the fact and own it!

Those rave parties are sweaty, grimy drug-fueled orgies and chances of sex actions are fairly high at least. But this is no cause or excuse for a ''gay panic' or gay-bashing hysteria like what happened in the US during the 80s and 90s. And monkeypox is not AIDS.

But just watch, the US news talking heads on say Faux News are probably going to shriek hysterically and start a witch hunt on the gays or bisexuals. They love to stir up hysteria to a public looking for somebody to hate and an excuse to do so. it makes them feel good.

So would that be 20 minutes of slow dancing, or a minute and a half of the whole lights flashing rave stuff, or maybe lunches on alternate Thursdays for a month and a half at that Italian place?

The WHO website says, “Monkeypox virus is transmitted from one person to another by close contact with lesions, body fluids, respiratory droplets and contaminated materials such as bedding.”

The guy in the article says, ““This is not COVID,” he said. “We need to slow it down, but it does not spread in the air and we have vaccines to protect against it.” Heymann said...”

Spreading though respiratory droplets is similar to spreading through the air, isn’t it?

That raucous noise in the distance is BIG PHARMA cheering as their stock prices begin to soar again... fortunately, Smallpox vaccine can protect against Monkey pox.
