There is something incongruous about the premise of using "mindfulness" and meditation as a corporate tool, which, by definition is fundamentally and ultimately about making money. The monetization of meditation is not only cynical, but it misses the point. If it made all these people better members of society, then great; however, I'm not sure that's going to happen. Being simply "mindful" is meaningless unless one is mindful of the right behavior.

I would suggest that a mindfulness practice or a meditation practice or a combination of the two likely affects behavior directly. Gradually the practitioner moves into alignment with the higher mind or a higher purpose.

Also, there is nothing wrong with having or making money. Corporations do not have to be evil empires. They can do a great deal of good in the world. Exploiting others to have or make money is a separate issue and clearly wrong.

I also believe that there is nothing inherently wrong in a teacher of meditation or mindfulness asking for money for instruction. In general, people don't value what they don't have to pay for. If it costs them something, that changes.

Interesting article. If only more people adopted the practices of mindfulness and meditation, the world would be a better place.

Smart companies understand that they make more money with a workforce that is less stressed, more aware, and have clearer heads. Less smart companies expect every action to have a financial benefit, and don't give any weight to anything that cannot be directly shown to bring income.

Just the word ‘mindfulness’ can be a trigger. Say it to yourself a few times a day and voilà!

Have a toppa day JT readers!
