Very amazing. There's great medical advances happening. My own sister with type 1 diabetes just got a pancreas/liver transplant recently. This couldn't have happened 20 years ago.

Hopefully, in the future, we will be able to modify the patient's own iPS cells to fix the genetic flaw before installation. Having to use exogenous cells adds a whole other layer of complication and variability to this procedure and a lifetime of anti-rejection drugs and compromised immune response. With that said, WOW! Potentially growing new retina is an amazing place to be in our knowledge compared to just fifty years ago. Too bad our collective perception of ourselves has not kept up...in the last 5000 years it hasn't changed a whit and we still mass murder ourselves every generation as we have done for a very long time. The contrast between the knowledge we have gained and our overall collective behavior is sad beyond Human toleration...but we do. My best wishes to those who must suffer these first, hesitant steps because of this malady and may color and light and the faces of your loved ones become yours again...ganbatte
