our bodies have a system known as the endocannabinoid system. Research seems to indicate that these endocannabinoids are involved in the bodies self pretection and healing system. So do the endocannabinoids already naturally present in the body damage the neurons also?

I was just about to type a comment but I forgot what I was going to say.

“There is a severe lack of well performed studies on the topic, especially considering the proportion of the population who have been exposed, or are exposed to marijuana,”

In this case we should ask," What is a well performed study?"

One which gives cannabis a pass will be derided by prohibitionists,

One that highlights the dangers will be passed off as a conspirisey by users and advocates.

Many studies (Please do not ask me to drag them up and quote) show dangers by submitting subjects (often cute little mice) to extremely large doses.

Large doses of anything (salt, sugar, fat) have adverse health effects.

Another headline said 'Users who smoked weed every day for five years ...'

You don't need a study for that, just watch Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

Listen to the lectures of daily heavy cannabis user Terrence McKenna and come back and say there are any deficiencies in his verbal memory.

Listen to the lectures of daily heavy cannabis user Terrence McKenna and come back and say there are any deficiencies in his verbal memory.

The fact that he's a heavy cannabis user speaks volumes.

From Wiki:

Terence Kemp McKenna (November 16, 1946 – April 3, 2000) was an American ethnobotanist, mystic, psychonaut, lecturer, and author who spoke and wrote about a variety of subjects, including psychedelic drugs, plant-based entheogens, shamanism, metaphysics, alchemy, language, philosophy, culture, technology, and the theoretical origins of human consciousness.

And

McKenna formulated a concept about the nature of time based on fractal patterns he claimed to have discovered in the I Ching, which he called novelty theory, proposing this predicted the end of time in the year 2012. His promotion of novelty theory and its connection to the Mayan calendar is credited as one of the factors leading to the widespread beliefs about 2012 eschatology. Novelty theory is considered pseudoscience.

He was a NUT!

Didn't seem to have many controls on this "open" study on the oxidative effects of smoking marijuana. Maybe a controlled study of smoking pure marijuana to smoking pure tobacco whole be more appropriate. I would also like to see studies on edible and juiced marijuana.

This study seemed more interested on classifying marijuana as a "drug". -I am strongly against that classification, but there are dangers with any substance taken in quantity = more danger in injesting marijuana (limiting the dose) vs smoking. Overall I am generally against smoking due to the oxidative damage.

This is all a lie. Snoop dog and willie Nelson are very eloquent.

And then there are the folks who have never used marijuana, and they aren't all that snappy when they become middle-aged either. In any case, the decline is probably based on X-files withdrawal, and they will be now be able to improve again.

Drugs produced by huge pharmaceutical companies: take for headache, side effects may include nausea, severe muscle cramps, depression, thoughts of suicide, in some cases death. Smoking marijuana: Side effects include eating too many little Debbie's cakes, profuse laughter with your enemy, forgetting about the dreary state of the economy, forgetting that the politicians you voted for are screwing you, forgetting that the money you worked hard for and saved for retirement is being squandered by said politicians on wars to line their own pockets and the social security system is in shambles; and last of all, temporary peace and relaxation and optimism.

As more of the world eases up on Mary Jane expect to see more propaganda and smear campaigns probably put out by the big pharmaceutical drug companies, who, like any callous drug dealer, don't want to lose their customers.

A few relevant details have been left out of this report. The 5 years of cannabis use refers to daily smoking for 5 years, not the way most users consume cannabis. (A cannabis year = 365 days of use) The second notable statistic missing from this report defines the amount of difference between the users and non users. In the study, non-users were able to recall an average of 9 words from the 15 presented for memorization. Heavy users were only able to recall an average of 8.5 words from the list.

Constant smoking of weed causes a lot more than memory loss it also causes lack of interest in a days work, mopery in the first degree a misplaced mindset. as a recreational drug moderately used ,no harm done but there are way too many uncaring stoners out there living on the dole or with thier folks paying the freight!

"Kinda grabs ya by the boo-boo, don't it?"

"Am I driving OK?"

"I think we're parked, man..."

"What is this stuff?"

"It's mostly Maui Wowie, But it's got some Labrador mixed in"

"What's Labrador?"

"It's dog shit. My dog ate my stash, and I had to follow him around with a little baggie for a week until I got it back!"

"Shit, man, I'm gonna be late for work again. That's the fifth time this week, and it's only Tuesday, man."
