absolutley not. The WHO has been incredible at what it does. Sometimes working with dictators, religious regimes and politicians we may find reprehensible. But if rich countries have an outbreak that’s not the WHO responsibility, it’s the nations who should have been on top of this since they have the resources, institutions, media and finances to prevent any outbreaks. On top of that it doesn’t help there are the anti-vaxers who refuse to accept the science but accept the herd immunity given to them by the mass population who DID get vaccinated.

Media (traditional and social platforms) have to assume their part in the responsibility for this, every time they allow antivaxxer false propaganda to be repeated they are facilitating outbreaks of preventable diseases, letting children die or face permanent disabilities for the rest of their lives.
Playing the "balance of information" card is invalid when one of the sides is only using falsehoods, there is no middle ground between preventive medicine on one side and open lies on the other. These diseases could have been eradicated by now but instead we are seeing outbreaks thanks to people that unnecessarily remain unvaccinated.

No, it has not actually it is a terribly effective campaing that has reduced the number of cases to less than 1% of what was observed in the past, even with the current numbers. No expert has claimed any fault on the WHO on the current cases, that comes completely on the effort of unethical antivaxxer groups that are misled into thinking vaccines are not the safe and effective measure they are or that the diseases have no importance when they are terribly dangerous. There is no lack of access to vaccines for those that want to vaccinate.
The CDC is a collaborator with the WHO and UNICEF vaccination efforts, the national agency is not responsible for those programs itself, that means your claim is a gross misrepresentation. The quote you cite is from another of the partners as well.
I mean, when your own source is a joint declaration presided by the WHO it becomes clear who is the one leading in vaccination, the CDC is in enough problems right now being criticized for antiscientific recommendations about covid isolation already.

Since you were unable to prove this with any reference you are still the only one baselessly claiming so, no expert. The own article you are commenting in clearly says it is the WHO data that allows for these warnings to be based on science.
Not about vaccination according to your own reference, which clearly point to the WHO and UNICEF as the responsible, the only reason you would present a reference that contradicts your claim is that you don't have any that supports that claim, which means it can be ignored.
The same as every time you repeat this misrepresentation the WHO criticized China,
Of course this has absolutely nothing to do with measles and the other preventable diseases that this article is talking about, why the interest in making offtopic comments every time your make a claim that is disproved?
Nobody did, nobody has claimed anybody can get through with dictators every time, that is another claim only you are making.
Lack of economic support can make available vaccines unable to reach those that need them as well, is what the article called lack of commitment by governments, one of the reasons for this lack of commitment is the antivaxxer propaganda that makes it politically beneficial to stop this support.
Not to mention that if according to you this is a responsibility of the CDC, that means this national agency is the one failing to do anything, you contradict again your own claim.

THE WHO has also criticised china for its handling of the crisis and its reporting, and still complains it hasn't had adequate information. Whether we like it or not the WHO has to work with China. And the CCP doesn't have to work with any organisation it doesn't like.So the WHO has to balance, people's health and working with the communist party.
The WHO doesn't have to be perfect to meet your or my level of satisfaction. The WHO has to deal with those countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and also has to deal with an uneducated population, rumours, and myths. Even gender issues come into play when it comes to access to vaccines. Afghanistan is a perfect example with some religious leaders who are against vaccinations and have a larger sway over the population. Sadly some leaders don't want to work with the WHO. That's not the WHO's fault.
As I mentioned before some of those countries have a population that is poorly educated, have poor health care systems, and certain religious leaders may be against vaccinations, due to misinformation and religious beliefs. Niger, Nigeria and Liberia are good examples where religious leaders promoted prayer over vaccines. Anti-vaxers aren't just on YouTube or Facebook. Some Muslims/countries may have heard that the vaccines are not halal. Some imams may be ok with vaccines and other imams are not ok with it, but the word ANTI-Vaxer is oversimplified. I will leave a link here if you want to read something. However, there is tons of research on health promotion, which is much harder in some countries than others.

No it is not, the huge success is precisely because of the actions of the global public health authority, this is easy to see the moment you keep making unsubstantiated claims of criticism without ever bringing even one name that says the outbreaks are product of any fail from the WHO and its partners, not even one name, just empty claims. This article is clear when it says over 50 million deaths has been averted by the efforts that you (and only you) call a failure.
Its measles program in sub-Saharan Africa? because that is what you used to (inadvertedly) prove the CDC is not doing anything in the region, contradicting yourself again.
Compared with the situation before the efforts began, definitely, antiscientific propaganda and political interests are still in the way, but the current situation is nothing compared with what was observed before the very successful programs were implemented, not even a 1% of the cases even with the current crisis.
An incomplete vaccination program is much more than what the CDC has even tried in the region (since being a national agency it is not its priority), once again proving that the international health authorities are the ones responsible for the benefits, even if not complete. Pretending resources should magically appear to solve every problem in the world is a terribly bad argument much less to "prove" a national agency is doing better by not doing anything in the same region.
Since the article clearly shows the huge success of the vaccination efforts being implemented thanks to the many different organizations the difference is irrelevant, after all the US (the actual country where the CDC works) is not free from measles either.

Calling a 91% vaccination rate "high" when the minimum required for herd immunity is 95% is clearly mistaken, yet that is what this particular example of antivaxxer propaganda did.
You mean overpowering governments? because that is not a rational position to take, a global public health authority is meant only to do so much, when there are things outside of its control that impact public health the role it has is to inform and raise the alarm, just like it is doing in this article.

The CDC itself is reporting the outbreaks, are you now arguing the CDC is lying?
According to your argument the presence of outbreaks means failure, and the CDC being responsible for only one country was not enough to prevent this "failure".
So the CDC is now dependent on the WHO for their vaccination efforts? that contradicts your previous claims, and support the actions of the WHO as a global public health authority above what the CDC does.
Local transmission of measles is not dependent on anything else but on low vaccination rates inside of the US, pretending a cluster of cases on one single school means every case was imported makes absolutely no sense (and is of course refuted by the own CDC declarations).

As the multiple references (including the declarations of the CDC) prove, there is no failure of the measles program, what is failing is the understanding of the public about the value of science and vaccination which is that allows for unvaccinated groups to exist and that comes on the tails of antivaxxer antiscientific propaganda that is making the problem worse even on the US that had everything to prevent any outbreak but it is now experiencing cases thanks to irrational vaccine hesitancy. Unfortunately the media is allowing this propaganda to be spread by giving a space for people to repeat falsehoods that put in danger the public health without assuming the responsibility for doing it.

This is of course just again making the false equivalence between being a scientific or medical authority and being a legal authority, which makes no sense, that would be like saying a doctor is not a medical authority just because it cannot force a patient legally to take a treatment. The CDC have no global legal powers, yet you have called it a global authority, that contradicts your own comment.

There is a clear distinction between the successes of those organizations. Read the article and you can see:

What's sad is the failure of the WHO's measles program. Out of the bottom 10 countries for being the least vaccinated, the WHO allegedly has programs it has implemented there.
The WHO-China collusion brought more clearly to the public eye the complete overhaul needed for the WHO agency, which had been leaving a trail of other failed programs in response to SARS, Ebola, Malaria, etc....

Good the CDC is on top of that. They issue those bulletins even where one case develops in a state.
In 2022, 37 countries experienced large measles outbreaks, and 28 were in the WHO region for Africa.
And part of the reason for any measles outbreak in the US is the low global vaccination rate. So, the WHO's failure in sub-Saharan Africa has an effect on the US--but not the other way around.

In fact, they do.
Wrong, as the CDC is responsible for domestic and many international programs. And the Measles and Rubella Initiative is an American Red Cross led partnership; meaning the WHO came on after the fact. ANd it is funded by the CDC and the American Red Cross.
The WHO incredibly praised China's handling of the Covid crisis,
UNICEF reports 20 countries in sub-Saharan Africa did not introduce the necessary second measles vaccine dose, so apparently the WHO did not get through to the dictators there.
Measles is one of the leading causes of death in children in the sub-Saharan African nations. This is because of anti-vaxers in those countries?

The WHO has failed abysmally in its measles vaccine campaign but thankfully the global health expert institution, the CDC, has been picking up the slack, and leading the WHO in the right direction. Another US global health leader, the American Red Cross, has been venturing into territories mismanaged by the WHO, and has been having great success.
