I’ve literally lost count of how many people I’ve known who’ve come up against the Big C, some have made it, some haven’t. So it’s good to read some good news on this front. Best of luck to all sufferers and may this work and other research down the track benefit you as soon as possible. And let’s be appreciative of the researchers who keep improving our health by their hard work. They’re people we can respect.

The key issue to the costs quoted with these new drugs is that they are the highly inflated rates charged by the drug companies to private US hospitals and insurance companies.

Countries with government funded public healthcare systems slash these costs by negotiating in bulk for these drugs, and thereby slashing the costs.

Another way U.S. consumers get screwed.

You do, unfortunately. And the US Government is always trying to pressure those countries (like mine, Australia) to exempt those overpriced drugs from our Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) so that we pay the same inflated prices you do. Not all drugs are on the PBS, but we'd like the ones that are to stay there.
